MattIowa
Hello, I know this is most likely not an egg but I had to see what someone else thought. This was found in Jackson Co. Iowa which is on the eastern boundary of Iowa. It was in a dry creek bed below an old limestone quarry. The quarry has not been in operation for a long (unknown) amount of time. We find many interesting rocks here after heavy rains that I do not see normally in other parts of our county or Eastern Iowa. This one is about 6cm in length and about 97 grams. any thoughts? Tidgy's Dad
It's a chert concretion, I think. Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.
Ludwigia
Concretion. Nice form, though. Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/
CBchiefski
Am not seeing any eggshell which would indicate it is not an egg, sorry. Would recommend reading this if you have not already:
ynot
I agree with a non egg piece of chert/flint. Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." abyssunder
I agree with the others. Too many layers (outer thin increasing to thick inside), may indicate nodule / concretion of silicate material. What's inside may be a sponge, but it's just a guess. Welcome to the Forum, BTW!
