Friend found part of bone in Colorado

So, yeah. It seems to just be a broken part of a bone

Can we get a little more information?

Was it on the surface or dug up? And a better idea if where in Colorado.

Multiple pictures from different angles with preferably a ruler next to it to show size.

Looks bird"ish" to me so far.

I believe it was found on the surface. And unfortunately, that was the only picture that my friend got before they returned it.

I don't think there is enough to go off of here.  

Looks modern, however, rather than a fossil.

It was definitely something that could fly.
