Fossil hunting Isle Of Wight

Recommended Posts

Today I went to Compton Bay, Isle of wight. By the time I got there I only had an hour before a storm stopped me. I found a large 23cm section of fossilised wood with some pyrite covering it.

Very cool looking!

Make sure to preserve it against Pyrite Disease!

Very cool! Have you had any luck preserving wood like this against further deterioration? I've tried a lot of  different things but mine has all turned to dust..

I have heard of this but I've a few bits wood before that didn't turn to dust but I can't remember what I did with them. I just hope this one won't end up bad.
