Another Penn Dixie Fossil Identification Request

BLT

Recommended Posts

I am wondering if this hash plate from Penn Dixie has the cephalon imprint from a large trilobite, or is it from something else?

Is this an imprent? This is indeed the cephalon of a trilobite Eldredgeops rana, but it looks like the actual fossil.Or is it because of the lightning?

Thank you! :) Any idea of the actual size of the trilobite based on the cephalon imprint?

Thanks! :) It’s an imprint. It’s a bit shiny because I applied super glue to it yesterday in hopes of it not disintegrating. I’ve been wondering if that was a dumb idea?

Yes, it is concave. :)

No matter how much I stare at it I can't see concave. The illusion is strong with you. :)

Mark.

Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!

I was a bit careless with the super glue. :wacko:Although dry now, it did have a bit of a pooling in the indentations. I believe that is what is causing the 3D appearance in the pics.
