Nematos
Hello, can you tell me how it is possible reconize and which are the Differences between Agerostrea and Rastellum? Thanks
Quer
Well, I don't know if it is an universal difference, but I think Rastellum have longer ribs disposed in the shape of a wheat spike pointing to the umbus. Agerostrea have shorter, more parallel ribs, and even the centre of the valve can be smooth, rib-free. Compare Rastellum carinatum and Agerostrea ungulata as an example.
Carl
In my experience Rastellum is larger, has more folds, and has a deeper shell than Agerostrea. A Google image search should clarify it.
