RyanP
My brother found this while hiking I believe around Mammoth Lakes, California. Its almost perfectly round and feels somewhat light so it may be hollow. Google says its a concretion. My mom thinks its a Geode. What do you think? hemipristis
Interesting! A concretion of sorts, methinks 'Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.' George Santayana
Ludwigia
Very interesting, but I also think that it's a concretion or a weathered stone with a mineral coating. It's sometimes amazing what the forces of nature can create over a few eons. Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Mark Kmiecik
+1 concretion. Not a fossil. Definitely collectible. Mark. Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!
ynot
There is a lot of volcanics around mammoth lakes. I have not heard of any "geodes" from that area though. It doesn't look right for a concretion to Me either. I suggest You cut it in half and see what the inside looks like. Could be a volcanic rock with agate filled voids that has tumbled in a stream. 1 Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Will Rogers said: " Some of them didn't spring far enough."
