Is this a fossil?

I have seen slabs of this kind of stone where I collect my fossils. Yesterday, I found a piece with a leaf impression and was wondering if this is an "old" rock and if the leaf impression is a fossil. (I do ask around and search online, but I get stuck often. Thx)

This probably isn't a leaf fossil, if the area is Devonian or Silurian. Leaves that look similar to your object came much later, I believe.

Pretty good leaf mimic, though. I can see why you would thing it is a leaf. :)

It does have twigs in it. I break it open and there's stuff inside, which is why I wondered at the age. But, it also seems to have fossils. It's a rock that confuses me.
