urban fossil
Something I found near Coral Falls on east shore at Trout River, NWT. I imagine some of the craters are from the top "arms" and the other is of the stem.
Fossildude19
I think you've got it. Can't help with a genus or species, though. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." abyssunder
It looks like that. I agree with Tim. Nice find! Wrangellian
Nice find from a location we don't see very often (or ever)... Do you have any info on the geology/stratigraphy of the area? All I can say for certain is Paleozoic age. Keep on hunting!
FossilNerd
Very nice calyx! We occasionally find pieces of the crinoids but this is the first relatively complete "bulb" that we've found. "We" is my daughter and I- and YES we have a competition going. Her response upon seeing this latest specimen was a rather muted "Looks kind of weathered". That was enough for me to know that I got her good. From my understanding, the area is a great repository for Silurian fossils...Crinoids and corals mostly. Still looking for a fish or trilobite or anything similar but I doubt we'll find anything like that.
