Campo
Hi, I found a small fragment of what I think may be dinosaur bone on the Isle of Wight. It was on Gurnard beach on the north of the island. The island is famous for dinosaur fossils, with 20 different species being found on the south beaches. The fragment is roughly 20mm square. One side is half-covered in what looks like reptile skin and the other side has lots of streaks across it. Hopefully photos will help. Thanks. pugrockprincess
I have seen softshell turtle fragments similar to this. Well spotted! I couldn't estimate the age or origin. Unfortunately I found nothing on the Jurassic coast, and am soon heading to Cornwall where I hear finds of anything are extremely rare :/
Campo
Thanks all for the answers! Not as exciting as finding a full dinosaur skeleton, but me and the kids were chuffed to find fossilised bone none the less! Strangely we didn't find anything more than fossilised shells when we visited Compton Bay.
