FossilNerd
I realize that this is very weathered and would be extremely difficult (and most likely impossible) to put any sort of specific ID on, but I was wondering if anyone thought it might be a gastropod? What is left of one anyway. I picked up the rock because it has a couple of brachiopods on the other side, and only noticed this after I got it home for a closer look. It’s Ordovician from the Drakes Formation near Bardstown Kentucky. Sorry for the lack of scale, but it’s about 1 inch (2.54cm) across. Doctor Mud
I think you are right, an internal mold of a gastropod. Well spotted!

I was hoping so since it would be the first I’ve found so far. Got a little excited. 5 hours ago, howard_l said: This might help http://www.ordovicianatlas.org/atlas/mollusca/gastropoda/ Thanks for the link! I’ll definitely check it out!
