Sharktoothguy11222 Posted March 4, 2008 Share Posted March 4, 2008 Check out this beauty. Its a Hemipristis serra from Bone Valley, Florida, and I found it last year. Just thought I'd post a pic of it. It is 1 1/4 inches from the root tip to root tip, and it's 1 1/16 inches long Any comments or questions are appreciated. So at the moment, I have mostly shark teeth. I do have some ammonites and other fossils, such as a titanosaur eggshell, and a few trilobites. Anyway, I like collecting shark teeth the most, and I know people who collect shark teeth like megs. I really don't see whats so special about them, apart from their size and awe. PaleoRon Posted March 4, 2008 Share Posted March 4, 2008 I think the allure of the meg teeth is that megalodon was the T-Rex of the ocean and it's teeth are the biggest of all sharks. I like several types of shark teeth. Other than the megalodon teeth I also like Notorhynchus, Hexanchus, Paratodus, and many others. I don't know why people collect loads of Megs, personally I like gathering a variety of teeth from various species of shark and time periods afterall, Big Ol' Meg ain't the only shark ever fossilised! That being said, I also prefer the shape of the cow sharks, the colors on Bakersfield makos and the cusps on a nice big Otodus. Some of the colors are even more vivid than some of the Sharktooth Hill Bonebed localities. Reds, pinks, yellows, blues, greys, even greens.
