Picked this item up in Driggs, ID. I believe the area is Cretaceous and can see several imprints and bits and pieces but am wondering what this could be. Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

That sure is interesting. I can see bryozoans in the first pic, but I'm sure you can see them too. The Cretaceous sure does come up with some interesting sedimentary forms and I don't have a clue as to what this could be. Almost looks like an internal cast of a flower pot.

I think the state it a typo. It probably should be Idaho.

Since I believe Mike was going on a trip to the Wyoming area.

It appears there are a couple corrections to this that need to be made. The state is a typo and should be Idaho. Also the age should be Permian and Pennsylvanian - the colors on the map were incorrectly applied.

Fixed. :)

Were you dumpster diving behind the Dunkin Donuts? Looks like a past-its-prime DD Coffee Cake muffin to me. :P

Wild guess: could it be the filling of a karst weathering pit (kamenitza?) on an limestone paleosurface then reached by a transgression?

Sounds like one solution to the puzzle.
