Carla Strohmeyer
We found this while cutting trails in our forest, on the banks of our spring fed natural pond. We live in southeast Oklahoma, in the Ouachita National Forest, in the Kiamichi River Valley. All of which used to be underwater eons ago. Every single person who has seen it in person, has said it looks like a petrified turtle. It’s heavy like stone & the top is darker with a slight greenish tint & is very smooth & not rough like the bottom or like a rock. The outdoor lighter is 12 inches long. Thank you so much in advance, for your help & insights into what it could possibly be!

Carla Strohmeyer
It won’t let me upload more photos, saying they are too large. lol Any ideas on how to make iPhone photos smaller files?
caldigger
Can we see the underside of this? You can add more photos as an edit to your post. Click edit at the bottom, then add.
Fossildude19
Moved to FOSSIL ID. There is a 4 mb limit to each post. You can use an online photo editor or try to email the photos to yourself to get them resized. Be sure to crop your photos to only include the fossil and scale. Carla Strohmeyer
Thank you for your help! I emailed the photos to myself. Lol this chunk of rock or whatever it is, is solid & heavy. Nothing chips or flakes off it at all. We just weighed it & it’s 9 lbs.

Carla Strohmeyer
Thank you! You’ve been very helpful! Do we dare chisel it, to see if there’s a fossil inside?
caldigger
The light portion in this shot looks like banded chert to me.
