R.J.H
I've had this ax for several years. It comes from Denmark, or at least that area. Made of ground stone, it contains a fossil that is approximately 5mm long. I have wondered since I got this what that fossil could be. Any help is appreciated. Fossildude19
Cropped and brightened: What ever it is, it looks to be a cross section. I'm not sure you will be able get anywhere attempting ID on this. My first thought was graptolite, due to the sawtooth shaped projections, but that is a very wild guess. But being a cross-section, I don't have high confidence in that. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." FranzBernhard
Could it be flint? Another wild guess: Longitudinal section of a sea urchin spine?? @The Amateur Paleontologist, @Max-fossils, @Manticocerasman, @Kasia (All of them are located somewhat near Denmark ) 1 hour ago, Fossildude19 said: My first thought was graptolite Mine, too ! But if it is flint, it is probably Mesozoic. Franz Bernhard

Not if you go by boat! Mark. Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!
Rockwood
Bryozoan. You have to disregard the center. It did not accurately silicifie, but notice the pore structure near the outside.
