Pit spoil flora

Recommended Posts

These are a few pieces from the British coal measures of Derbyshire UK , in all the coal measure spoils and opencasts i have looked for fossils in i have not found many examples of Pecopteris and this is a first for me from this spoil site, the detail on it is poor as the nodule was open and in a wet area.

Nice Annularia. Judging by the angle, I'm willing to bet there's a few more whorls withing the concretion.

Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!

Nice flora! One person’s “spoil pile” is another person’s treasure! :)

Beautiful plants!  I especially like the Annularia

Thank-you Monica .....but i do have the "Annularia" as Asterophyllites sp. i think the Annularia leaves have more breadth.

Cheers John
