When I enlarge it, the prep job looks terrible, which typically means just that, not totally fabricated. They usually use a better template specimen when mass producing trilobites. No one points out the fabrication they see. I might see a couple air bubbles but again, it could just be something in the matrix. If painted, wouldn't one make it darker?? When I started collecting fossils I posted asking about these exact items. And am pleased I did, as I was told the same info as above.
