Carboniferous arachnid?

Strepsodus

Recommended Posts

I found this in South Yorkshire, UK today in the coal measures (upper Carboniferous).  I suspect it may be an arachnid though I am not sure.  Please can anyone confirm if it is or isn’t an arachnid?  Plant fossils are abundant at the site where this was found.

Thanks,

Daniel

It looks more crustacean to me, but I'm wrong fairly often. There's a few species of Cyclus from the UK.

Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!

Thanks for the replies.  Cyclus was my initial thought but I couldn’t find any similar examples.  However, having looked further for similar examples the ones on this post look very similar.  Cyclus are quite rare in South Yorkshire but certainly something which could be present at this site.

The arachnids i have found in the carboniferous are very small and i cannot see anything that looks arachnid but i can see a resemblance to a Cyclus .
