Finished prep of Crinoid stems

I finished prepping the lot of crinoid stems recently.  It took quite a while to complete as I was using only an engraver, picks and brushes.  I was told later that I could have soaked it in vinegar to remove most of the matrix.  Is that true?

It's funny how many stems can hide in the little amount of rock given. Fantastic job cleaning them with the tools given!

Try a piece you dont mind loosing and let it soak in vinegar. 

My experience is it damages the surface of the fossils, as these crinoid stems are also calcite so i personally dont do it

Thanks for the input guys.  Looks like I need to invest in an air scribe and forget the vinegar.
