Auspex
Compared to most of what I've seen, those are excellent specimens; congratulations on acquiring them when you had the chance. The Santana Fm. is a rich lagerstatte; Chiappe's work on the Cretaceous birds from there changed paleornithology. BTW: There is a seller in the UK who is offering some feathers from there! http://www.fossils-uk.com/fossils-uk/Vertebrates%201.html (2nd & 3rd items down). If I had any money, I'd own them! 1 "There has been an alarming increase in the number of things I know nothing about." - Ashleigh Ellwood Brilliant “Try to learn something about everything and everything about something.” - Thomas Henry Huxley >Paleontology is an evolving science. >May your wonders never cease! pleecan
beautiful fish !! Seems the Barzil fish stopped offering from their country. That is correct and when this old private collection ended up on Ebay I sat for several days bidding ... only got a small fraction of the collection.... but still happy. Frank Menser
Not a bad lot of Rhacolepis buccalis! Love the fish from Brazil. Here's a Tharras Araripis... and a Notolops... There is an excellent book, SANTANA FOSSILS by John Maisey that covers the fossils from that region. 1 Be true to the reality you create.

pleecan
Pleecan.....Very nice fish concretions.... im impressed..... no wonder you were keen to get some of the collection.... Thanks Steve... these were some of the very first fossils acquired... knowing almost nothing about fossils.... only criteria was that they looked unique as I do not usually see 3D relief in fish fossil... considered very fortunate to be at the right place and the right time to bid.
