Third time's the charm... Previous on the left and Final on the right.

Megatooth Collector

Some of you may remember me posting this tooth a month of so ago. It is a very large 3 inch + fossilized Great White Shark tooth that was found in the early 90's in the Cooper River in South Carolina. It has had made it's way around the world with previous owners in South Carolina, Australia, Florida and now Texas. The root of the tooth had been restored due to root wear three times!! The first job made the root lobes look like Mickey Mouse ears and did not look good. I obtained the tooth after it's second restoration to repair the first one and it was an improvement in quality and texture but still the root lobes were too pronounced, "too Meg-like", I believe someone mentioned and I agreed. As much as I hate to make a tooth shorter, I thought a revision was warranted to make the root look more like that of a great white. I sent the tooth back for restoration and just got it back. You can see the BEFORE final restoration photo on the left and the FINAL restoration photo on the right. When I received the tooth it was at 3.41" in longest slant and now it is 3.34" in length...still a monster GW tooth. Either way I am more happy knowing it is closer to the original tooth size.
