Late Jurassic Shrimp

Harry Pristis

This is the shrimp, Aeger insignis, from the Late Jurassic lithographic limestone at Solnhofen, Germany. This limestone is where the feathered reptile/bird, Archeopteryx, was discovered.

(I find Solnhofen also spelled "Solenhofen" in some publications. My fossil books in German spell it without the extra "e", so I think that is the spelling I will use in the future.)

So well preserved, it looks like you could pop the tail off and eat it.
