osteoborus dudleyi

Harry Pristis

This is another Borophagine dog called Osteoborus cf. Osteoborus dudleyi. It is from the Late Miocene of Citrus County, Florida. When collected, it was associated with remains of the rhino Teleoceras, a Gomphothere elephant, and a large ground sloth.

Notice the enlarged and crowded premolar 4, thought to be an adaptation for crushing bones.
