OTODUS OBLIQUUS TOOTH

Harry Pristis

This is a lower anterior tooth of the Paleocene-Eocene giant shark, Otodus obliquus. The vertebral centrum is also from an Otodus, which was the biggest shark around at the time.

These fossils were recovered from the phosphate mines in the interior of Morocco. I bought these from the local phosphate miners near Erfoud.
