hello !

on my side i will propose something i found in april 2011 and have forgotten in a corner of my cellar...i found it again while i was cleaning that part of the cellar....of course i stopped what i was doing seeing that big package:

048tu.jpg

The only will i had was to open it and see what was inside...

049mq.jpg

So this a very fragile diatomite plate with some visible bones ...it comes from miocene diatomite formation (lake deposits) of Coiron area in Ardèche, France

Preparation has been done from 10 to 12 august 2012 result is a 30cm long partial fish from Siluridae family. I haven't found any other name than Silurus sp. If you look closely you can see some teeth laying on matrix in front of the jaws...

Here goes my personal best yet Thaleops ovata(Conrad, 1843) trilobite. While complete specimens are rare, most are found enrolled. A fully prone example of this trilobite is very hard to come by and one as tightly articulated as this one are even more rare. This specimen shows no signs of compression or dis-articulation. This is easily my finest T. ovata to date.

Fossil: Thaleops ovata (Conrad, 1843)

Size: 31.72mm long

Formation: Platteville Formation, Mifflin member

Age: Middle Ordovician, Blackriverian

Where: Southwest Wisconsin

Found: 8-5-2012

Prep Completed: 8-18-2012

Hello Folks,

I would like to submit, for your consideration as August 2012 FOTM, this Double Isotelus slab that I found on August 11th, 2012 in the State of Missouri. It is Ordovician in age, Maquoketa Group and I believe to be Isotelus Iowensis and was prepped at home on August 15th, 2012.

Thanks for looking.

My river find this month is a monster MEGALODON. 6 15/16" Tall and 4 14/16" wide. The bigest I have ever found. Found 8/6/12 in North Carolina; Miocene, Probably about 6 to 8 million years in age..

I know it will probably not win but I had to show it off. : ) Happy Hunting. Hope everyone finds that treasure they have always been looking for! : )
