Hi all, This little bone piece from the Kem Kem beds in Morocco is one of the things I bought at a fossil fair this weekend for a small price. I know that Kem Kem ID is really tricky, so I am not expecting a definite species as an answer. But knowing a bit more precisely what kind of animal it came from would be nice to know. I can always make more pictures if needed. Thanks in advance for your help! Max

Hi all, So this little bone piece was found at the beach of Wassenaar, Netherlands; it’s from the late Pleistocene, 40’000 years old. I got two questions on this one: Is it possible to say anything more about this bone fragment (eg what animal/what part of the skeleton)? In the last picture, are those predation marks? I can take better pictures if needed. Thanks in advance for your help! Max

Hello all. I'm more of a Native American artifact collector but fossils interest me a lot as well. Going to start building my collection more as we go along. While looking in a large local creek this afternoon I found this. Now it may just be a rock as I'm much more knowledgeable about the NA stuff, but to me it almost looks like a fossilized bone fragment. The pores on the surface and at the ends is what made me think it was a possibility. Thanks y'all!

This bone was found a few years ago in a large Tennessee cave. The location was about a mile from the only entrance. Someone had removed it from it's original location, and placed it on a rock next to the trail. The ends looked freshly broken, so I looked for hours trying to find the original location, just in case the ends were present, which would make identification much easier. No other bones were found, and this is the only large, ancient bone ever found in the deeper parts of the cave. I removed it from the cave (with permission), in hopes I could learn more about it. In a couple of areas in the cave, not too far away, many ancient tracks have been found that are thought to be from a pleistocene Jaguar. I know that identifying this bone may not be possible, but just thought I would share it here for opinions. Is there anything about it that would rule out Jaguar? Thanks

This fossil was dug up fishing recently in Kankakee County, Illinois, where the bedrock is Silurian, but this fossil would have to be Pleistocene. Any help with ID is appreciated. I do not have possession so these are the only photos I have. If you provide an ID, please provide your reasoning. Thanks!

Out hunting Jurassic coast yesterday, found this nodule containing what looks like the underside of a skull, symmetrical on both sides apart from one side is worn, if it is I was thinking croc or possibly Plesiosaur but it looks fish like to me, either way there is a lot of bone in there, any suggestions ? Thanks, Alan.

I found this in the North Sulphur River in north Texas. I’ve had a few guesses on Facebook, but wanted to see what I can get from here. Thank you for the help. It’s about 2 1/2 inches long.

Saw this awesome item online and won the auction. Very interesting rock from the Whitby area in Yorkshire. i'm wondering what the bones are. I know the ammonite is a Oxynoticeras. I was guessing Ichthyosaur but maybe someone can give me a better ID? Maybe it's Gyrosteus fish bones

Hello everyone! I have found quite a few bones recently but most, I assume, deer or small mammal. I didn't think to post them here except this one I found yesterday. I assume it is some modern animal but can't be sure. When I saw this post: It made me think to just post this for more information. This came from the DuPage river in Northern Illinois, West of Chicago. It was found among gravel type rocks about 15 feet from the river ina trail. The huge flooding we have had recently is opening up all kinds of things and I can't wait for the rivers to go down to see what else is uncovered. It seems it has not become stone-like as fossilization would do but it doesn't look like the other bones I found. I know being in or near water will change the look, feel and degradation of the bones. Still curious though. Thoughts?

I found both pieces on the beach near South Ponte Vedra, FL. The larger piece I found today, and, because of the shape, I recalled having something like it found a few years ago. It looks like a bone, but what is it?

Dinosaur bones from USA....available for trade! My interest are miocene fossils( bivalves,gastropods,teeth...) or some other fossils ( ammonites, gastropods, plates with small fossils, also Im interesting for all kind of fossils which are not too small! )

Hey group (long time I know ), I saw this in a group on facebook and I think it needs some expert help from some of you who know Dino material. The poster thinks (as well as many others) that this is a distal femur of a dinosaur. The only location info is Colorado. I dont see anything that says bone other then outer appearance (no internal structure just sandstone). Im not an expert on dinosaurs (dug on a Hadrosaurs and a Triceratops) so I wanted you input. I think its the internal cast of a tree. Thanks Mikey

Can anyone tell me what this is. The story goes it was found in Eastern Montana. I think it is a fossilized vertebra but my friends think it is something else. It is about 3" in diameter. I tried to take photos of both sides. Sorry a couple of them are a bit blurry and it is a friend of mine who has the piece so I don't have it with me and can't retake. Thanks for any light you can shed on this.

Hello there! I no little information about fossils but I was really hoping someone could help me out with identifying this fossil? Frankly I’m not quite sure it is a fossil. I’m really curious though and I gladly thank anyone for their time. This small ‘bone’ was found on the shores of North Carolina. It’s a dark brownish color and feels lighter than it looks. (Almost like wood) Thank you guys!

I recently acquired this jaw bone. I was given no information about it and would like to get an idea of what it is. It measures approximately 20" in length and around 8 lbs. I can provided more pictures later I any have the one at the moment.

Found this washed up in a place I think is yorktown formation. I thought it might be fossilized because of the opalescence in the marrow. I dont know where to start on evaluating this, what do you all think?

These were found in a North MS creek. The cut of the creek is down to the hardpan and fifteen feet below ground level. There were numerous fractures on and beyond the exposed portions of the fossils. To accommodate for this and to maintain their integrity, both of them were removed along with hard pan, as a shelf. The smaller of the two fossils was found less than an inch away from the main body. As with the larger fossil, it was fractured and fell into four pieces--the nub, the main body, a shoot, and a tip--and these can be seen in the lower right and the upper left corners, respectively. Any help would be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance.

Quite a while ago, I found these two pieces at the beach near South Ponte Vedra, FL, where I find every fossil in my collection. One, most likely, is a bone, may be rib? I am not sure about the other piece. I would appreciate any help ID'ing it.

HI all, A fantastic fossil expedition yesterday up on the foothills of the Mogollon Rim in northern Arizona in the Pennsylvanian Naco formation. Besides the hordes of corals we picked up for the acid bath, I found this large piece of bone material in rather large rock eroding out. It is no doubt bone, since it also passes the "lick and stick" test well. The unique cupped end might make it easier to identify. We gravitate toward invertebrates and plant material, however we wont pass up on a nice sharks tooth or bone fragment if we find it in such deep water marine material! What are your thoughts? We covered it up and marked the spot so we can go back at some point and try to extract it if warranted. I did my best to get a clear shot of it, and think I did well considering its a small hand held digicam.
