My girlfriend and I are going to be traveling down to SC in late august, and thinking of stopping by the Edisto River to search for shark teeth. Could anyone please give us some advice on a place where we can safely park without any issues, and where we should be able to find decent teeth by snorkeling? Also, there any hotels anyone knows of in the area? We are from Maryland and used to walking the beach along Calvert Cliffs, so any advice would be very much appreciated.

Hey Guys, I just graduated from Clemson and took a job in Orangeburg, SC. I am an enthusiastic shark tooth/fossil hunter and have been looking for shark teeth and bones since I was about 4. I checked out Hunting Island for the first time last week and found 187 teeth with a really nice (nice for me anyway haha) chunk 1.75" long. My family has been going to Edisto Island for years and we sifted/dug through shells on the beach to find mostly small teeth. This method of looking in the surf has been my only exposure/method of finding fossils. Not to say we haven't been successful, but I am looking for something that produces bigger teeth. Since I have moved down here I am looking into river exploration as I have read on the internet and heard about. I am looking for places I can go that I don't have to scuba and can get my hands on a Megalodon! If anyone wants to go hunting I would be ready to go! Andrew

Found some baby teeth while scuba fossiling last weekend. Plans to go hunting again mid and late June. The guy next to me found a killer Angy. He swears it is a Ric. Have information on a couple of potentially good land site locations. Willing to trade for detailed info on other Charleston SC/Summerville/Cottageville land sites. Yet to be cleaned baby teeth Angy or Ric?
