Are there uses for fake spinosaurus claws?
-
Hi, I’m wondering if it would be a difficult task to remove the matrix/dirt layer off this carcharodontosaurid tooth. I have no experience, but might seem like a cool project? Would a dental pick, brush, and needles suffice?

Are these real Spinosaurus claws?
Ginger0412 posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Are these real Spinosaurus claws? You probably know that I recently posted about Spinosaurus Claws. I am very confused whether to buy or not. Therefore, the seller has sold other spinosaurus claws in the past, so please tell me if the claws are genuine. If the nails that were sold in the past were real, the idea is that this nail is also real. I am always bothering you, but please help me. -
Are these really real Spinosaurus claws?
Ginger0412 posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Are the claws pictured above really real Spinosaurus claws? I don't doubt everyone on the forum, but I feel like the shape is different See photo belowThis nail was introduced by Phos01 as a real nail in the topic "Buy Spinosaurus Claws" posted by @Phos01. I feel that the shape is a little different from this real nail. Are these real Spinosaurus claws?. -
Came across this Vert from the KemKem region. Looks like a regular croc or crocodylomorph vertebrae to me, apparently he is very convinced it's a "deltadromeus" vert. Anyone that can help clear this up

I recently got this trilobite and don't know the genus. I think it is from the Order Harpetida. The listing said it is from the El Kisan formation, but I can't find any formation called the El Kisan formation. If that formation doesn't exist I think it's from the Fezouta Formation. It was found in Zagora, Morocco and is Ordovician in age. I haven't seen anything similar and it might be undescribed, but that's just speculation. It is 0.9 cm long.

Trilobites from Morocco
A.Passero posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hi fossil forum! I am hoping to get some opinions on the authenticity of these trilobite fossils. If this belongs somewhere else on the forum please let me know where so I can move it, or feel free to move it yourself. I know trilobites are often faked and that fakes are getting more sophisticated, and was looking for a second opinion and my local fossil seller/appraiser recommended this forum. I did tests myself (eye detail, uv reactivity, tooth test) and am fairly confident, but would love a second opinion. I would be happy to bring them to someone in the Toronto area in person if anyone here is in the area as well. If anyone wants pictures at other angles please let me know. Thanks in advance!- 3 replies

Hello people. I recently started buying fossils from the kem kem beds other than dinosaur. Not that they aren't cool (Just awesome ) but as to get a better understanding of the paleoecology since , imho, only talking about dinosaur does not do justice to the fantastic other prehistoric creatures. Among many kinds of fish that i aquired was also a shell piece of a turtle. I can't find much on the net but have learned that at least 3 species are known from these beds. After comparing with pieces offered by other vendors the name "hamadachelys " often is used. Some of the pics on the net look the same others don't. So I wonder if this piece can be named. If not no worry since i am happy with "testudian indet." The piece is 10 centimeters long (sorry i am metric ) and repared along the fracture and covered with standard "Morrocan matrix fix-it-all " (they should get a patent for it but not bashing on the people since i know a lot of very nice morrocan people ) sorry for bad pics as I have stated earlier that i am absolutely a giant newbie with technology. Thank you for comments and information. With best regards, Dirk

Real or fake trilobite from Morocco?
Self-taught posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hello everybody! Someone offered me a Scabrella to buy... As it is a rare trilobite I have doubts about its authenticity. Can you help me? Please! -
Recently, after going to my favorite fossil store, I aquired a Otodus Obliquus vertebrae. It came from a formation in Morocco, and is approximately 54 million years old, from the pliocene. Otodus is an extinct mackerel shark, related to the far larger O. Megalodon. The fossil is approximately 10.5 centimeters or 4.13 inches. I was wondering how large the shark would be relative to this vertebrae (assuming this was the largest vertebrae from the shark.)

Hello, this is a "mosasaur jaw" from Morocco, I bought it knowing that the jaw was super suspicious and just considered it as a display for the teeth. But on further examination, as you can see on the close up photo, the texture of the jaw bone seems too good for a cast (at least in my opinion and comparing it to other moroccan jaws I saw). Can it be a reconstructed real jaw? It's a crocodile jaw or similar? Or a really good cast? What do you think?

Is it real? Crocodile tooth, eocene, Morocco
Laleja posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hello everyone, I am very glad to have found this forum, as I have no knowledge at all about fossils. I got a fossil and wonder if it's real. The information I was given: It is meant to be a crocodile tooth from Morocco of the eocene. The person I got it from bought it 15 years ago from moroccan sellers in Germany. It was the first time they brought crocodile teeth with them (but other fossils before). Do you think it is real? To me it looks as if the crocodile went to the dentist's just a few weeks ago? If it's a real fossil I also would be very glad to get an ID - shoud I open another thread in the ID section? Thank you in advance!! Laleja -
Are these real Spinosaurus claws?

This is the fossil that I cherish the most now. I believed it was genuine, but the price I paid for it was too cheap. Made in Morocco Ladies and gentlemen, please tell me the identity of my treasure. "Whether this is a fake or not, I will treasure this fossil that gave me so much excitement and excitement." -
I no longer know if there is a genuine Spinosaurus claw in this world. fake. fake. fake. full of fakes. I honestly want to take it to my grave. However, there are only fakes and the real thing can not be found at all. Do real Spinosaurus claws exist in this world?

Fossil Trilobite Real or Fake?
Rikache posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hi everyone! I was recently gifted this trilobite fossil, but after taking a look at it, it seems as though it may not be authentic. Although I don’t see obvious evidence of resin casting, i.e. air bubbles, the specimen does lack lots of clear detail in the head and in the eyes. I’m hoping it’s just a bad prep job, but realistically I’m leaning towards it being a fake as I’ve seen many Moroccan fabrications similar to this one. Any input would be greatly appreciated and thank you all so much for your help! -
