Hi, I always struggle to tell the difference between a Plesiosaur tooth and an Ichthyosaur tooth. This tooth comes from Goulmima in Morocco (lower Turonian) so I believe it is a Plesiosaur tooth (possibly a Pliosaur tooth), but wanted to confirm it here. The tooth is 4.2cm in length and retains the ridges on the tooth which I think is how you might tell the difference between Plesiosaur and Ichthyosaur. Thank you!

Hi all, due to various moves across continents I lost information on this particular Ammonite. I know you love some good detective work and I would be so grateful if anyone could help getting the label back up to speed Size is 12 cm long and 5 cm wide. What I could decipher/infer from the remnants of the label: Meto(f).... sp. Djebel Ait ... north of Goulmima, Morocco Thanks for taking a look!

Hi. I've just received this Kem Kem huge partial theropod vertebra (just the process) and I just wanted to know whether it's possible to ID? Was told Spinosaurid is likely but could also be Carch. Thanks in advance.

Hi, This is a big bone from Ait Hani in Morocco (according to the seller), that is about 44cm in length. I don't know if it is hollow but I think this could be a limb bone from a Theropod or Sauropod. Want to ask as someone here might know better. It could be from something else but to me either a Theropod or Sauropod seems to be likely. Thanks!

Liopleurodon Ferox Tooth?
Alston Gee posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
I know this pliosaur tooth has been discussed early in another post, but here are more pictures with true colour (I guess) provided by the seller. The true locality of this tooth remains unknown although the seller claimed it was from Oxford Clay Formation, England. Does this tooth belong to Liopleurodon Ferox or Cretaceous pliosaur?- 5 replies

Hello, I have recently been reorganising things and found this trilobite without a label. It definitely had one at some point, I have been searching for a while and cannot find it. Unfortunately, I now have no information about it. From what I recall, the label only said Morocco for the location. Could it be a Leonaspis? Thank you

How does one reliably differentiate Moroccan Pterosaur teeth from similarly elongated fish teeth? Are there any grooves, striations etc I should be looking out for under a loupe? (Image credit: AJ Plai, http://www.thefossilforum.com/index.php...)

Hello, I've been sorting out my fossils and was wondering if this tooth is real? The label says it is a Sarcosuchus tooth from just south of Taouz, Morocco. If it is real, would it perhaps be better labelled as a crocodile tooth rather than Sarcosuchus? Thank you

Spinosaurus Tooth, Real or Fake?
micaham posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
I recently purchased this Spinosaurus tooth from the Kem Kem beds in Morocco, it’s 3 3/8” long and supposedly has no repair or restoration according to seller. Does the tooth show any signs of repair or restoration? Is it entirely real? -
Pliosaur tooth with possible repair work?
msantix posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hi, I was wondering how this tooth looks? I think it is all natural but there is a part around the middle of the crown that could be just the preservation, but would like to get a second opinion on it (there are still striations through it). Thanks! -

Is my trilobite real?
Muffinsaurus posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
A weekend trip lead to my wife asking me to pick out a trilobite fossil as a gift. I looked as close as I could in the somewhat dimly lit building and found one I liked and was fairly sure it was real at the time. Even the tag started it was authentic. While doing research about metacanthina issoumourensis I noticed online prices and the price she paid for it were vastly different. Red flags went off and I started looking the item over closely. I know in my heart of hearts it has to be a fake. However I'm still a novice at best and I could very well be wrong. I'm hoping I'm wrong. So I'm turning to you all with vastly more knowledge than myself for the truth. Thank you in advance. -
We got it today from someone who just came back from Morocco. It's 25" high x 30" wide and has I believe 7-9 specimens. The 2 large ones are both 13.5 inches each. I tried to get the clearest photos I could with my phone. I also used a UV light to check for resin and repairs but I'm pretty much a newbie. 1 photo of the back is with a flash. So, is it authentic?

Hi, This is a fossil for sale, seller lists it as a Sauropod caudal vertebra from Ait Hani in Morocco. I am not familiar with the area or if there are any dinosaurs described from the region, but I think it is Jurassic in age. This is quite large at 30 x 20cm so I think the size would lean towards being from a Sauropod, but maybe someone is familiar with fossils from the area and can give me a better idea of what this most likely is. Thanks!

I was looking through the auction site for the 100th time this week, and saw what are supposed to be Mosasaur vertebrae. Apart from size, they don't look like any Mosasaur verts I've seen. These look more like very large Enchodus verts to me. The slab is 19"x7". I'm not buying them at the moment. I'm just curious as to how correct I am.

Spinosaurus Jaw Piece with Tooth
ConnorR posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
I saw this item for sale, said to be a Spinosaurus jaw fragment with an associated tooth glued on. Is it a composite, and does it belong to Spinosaurus? -
Hi, Unusual looking tooth here. Sold from Kem Kem and dimensions are 20×8×6 mm. It doesn't look like any tooth I have seen from there before. I am wondering if it could be a more unusual type of crocodile than the usual croc teeth we see. Anyone have any ideas?
