We got it today from someone who just came back from Morocco. It's 25" high x 30" wide and has I believe 7-9 specimens. The 2 large ones are both 13.5 inches each. I tried to get the clearest photos I could with my phone. I also used a UV light to check for resin and repairs but I'm pretty much a newbie. 1 photo of the back is with a flash. So, is it authentic?

Acadoparadoxides levisetti. authentic ?

I have seen online this Acadoparadoxides levisetti (Middle Cambrian), from the Wawrmast Formation, Alnif (Morocco). 14cm I was wondering how much restoration there is, or if it's all a cast. @Kane @piranha @aeon.rocks- 5 replies

Acadoparadoxides authenticity

Hi All, I am wondering if anyone can assess the authenticity of this Acadoparadoxides from Morocco? From what I can tell there is restoration on the right eye and maybe margin of the cephalon. Beyond that I think it is real. It does appear to be missing one thoracic segment but I am guessing this is taphonomic. I can take more pics as needed. Thanks for the help.- 2 replies

Acadoparadoxides authenticity

Hello All. I am curious as to the groups assessment as to the authenticity of this Acadoparadoxides specimen from Morocco. It measures roughly 13 inches in length (the fossil itself). I see restoration of the right eye (as in right side of the photo) and right portions of the glabella, but beyond that am fairly hopeful/comfortable that the specimen is authentic. It is interesting that an upper thoracic segment is missing, but I am thinking this could be taphonomic or that segment was lost when the rock split. Anyway, I value any thoughts and input. I'm happy to share more photos as well. Thank you.-

Thoughts on this trilobite?
Archiveit posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hello, this is my first post here. I've been collecting fossils for a long time and I've been questioning some of them for a while now, so I figured I would post some of them here for evaluation, and I'm starting with this trilobite. I purchased this trilobite on online about 20 years ago. It was described as an Acadoparadoxides fossil from Erfund, Morocco, and the fossil is about 11 inches long. Some of the matrix is definitely manmade, as if the stone were broken and then repaired and reinforced with some other material. I'm curious if the trilobite looks to be all original, partially original with some artificial repair work, or if the entire thing is a fake? Please let me know if you want more pics. Thanks.- 16 replies
