Hello, i have a question. Will there be something like April fools on this Forum? Is it even allowed to post jokes on April 1? Or is this Forum to serious to post jokes? Thanks !

Welcome to April, a month for budding trees and flowers as parts of the world wake up from under cold, downy blankets of snow. It is a time to put thoughts about collecting -- kept on ice during the winter season -- into practice, to take some good risks in exploring new sites, and get the hammers swinging again. In short, a time for adventure and thrusting one's chin out, and to be greeted in return by a milder breeze, a bath of warm sunlight, and springtime's ambient energy that seems to titrate up once weary winter bones. By unanimous staff decision, this month's crown goes to: UtahFossilHunter! UtahFossilHunter is no stranger to adventure as he pores over maps and embarks on journeys to spacious, awe-inspiring vistas under big skies. A member with us since 2014, in that time he has been able to distinguish himself here with great contributions, engaging questions, ample curiousity and wonder. Welcoming by nature, and always willing to share his knowledge (and fossil literature in his "Classics" topic), he continues to be a good companion in our virtual travels together over our fossiliferous Forum terrain. I hope all will join us in celebrating UtahFossilHunter's significant and helpful contributions to our beloved Forum. Congratulations Sir! Wear this Crown with joy as you earned it! Here is your opportunity to tell us your story - about your passion for fossils, and how you came to TFF! On behalf of the staff here on TFF, congratulations!

Hi all! Well, I'm excited to say that my husband and I will be traveling to Chicago for a weekend in April - yay!!! I'll be on my own on Saturday, April 13 while he attends Star Wars Celebration. He suggested that I go for spa treatments, but I said that there are better ways for me to spend the day - I can get spa treatments anywhere, but this will be my first time in Chicago!!! So, I was wondering, is there any chance of finding fossils in the city, perhaps somewhere along the lake shore? And if not, are there any other suggestions for what I can do to pass the morning/afternoon while my husband is nerding out at the convention? Thanks for your help! Monica

Hi everyone! I've had quite the month here in Wilmington, NC. After some recent dredging, I've been scouring the beach (often multiple times a day) for any good finds. As far as beach hunting goes, this is by far the most productive month I have ever had, with some of my all-time best teeth coming out of Wilmington. I'm really excited to share some of my finds with you guys. The teeth pictured are only the best ones found from April 20th to May 20th, 2018. There are many more not pictured that did not "make the cut". If anyone has information about any of my teeth or would like an alternate angle of a particular tooth, please reach out! Happy Hunting

It might be just me and my 7 year old for spring break this year and was wondering what you all thought were the best places to hunt in the first week of April? Last year we did Texas, which was fun, but would like to go somewhere new. I believe mazon collecting starts then? That's nearby and a possibility. I figured hit some road cuts and geode digging if we stay in the wisco Illinois area. I'd love to hit up the peace river as I hear that's a good time of year, but I worry about the gators down there's. I saw a place that rents canoes and will drop you off up stream which is cool. I just worry about a 7 year old being easy prey plus the fact that she can't swim. Any thoughts on safety with that? I really would like to do fishdig in wyoming, but unfortunately they dont open until late May. Anyone else have any good recommendations for this time of year? I'm open to pay to dig or public areas. Thanks in advance.
