Hello All, We recently took our kids to the Aurora fossil festival to "fossil hunt" though piles of material from the local Nutrien Phosphate mine in North Carolina. We brought a small amount of material home to look though and one of the kids found the attached tiny hermit crab. It looks so delicate that I have a hard time believing this is a fossil. That said, if it is a modern specimen I have no clue how it ended up in our sample of gravel? Any thoughts or help with the id would be appreciated! Brent

I'm hoping to get some help identifying what appears to be a tooth that we found while digging at the Fossil Museum in Aurora, NC. My first thought was that it looked like an alligator tooth, but I am unsure. Please let me know if you need another picture with more lighting.

My daughter found this tooth panning I'm Aurora, NC. Can anyone confirm if it's a carcharodon hastalis?

This specimen was found in micro matrix purchased from the Aurora, North Carolina Fossil Museum. Description: Teeth are very similar to the genus Galeocerdo with finely serrated, long, thick and warped crowns; pronounced notch, small serrations on heel of distal side. Undulating margin and fine serrations on mesial edge. U-shaped root with a prominent protuberance on lingual face and transverse groove (Fig. 5.10). Physogaleus contortus differs from the genus Galeocerdo in having very prominent and bulging root with the deep notch, and a much more erect crown in lateral view. I only try to post real mysteries and this is a specimen that is unlike anything I’ve found from Yorktown in that it is exceptionally dense. It has a fin shape and could almost be the dorsal process of a vertebrae except that the striated pattern across the face of it doesn’t look familiar to me as such. Feels like fish material? When it’s wet, the color is bright orange, almost like enamel. I don’t know, it’s just… weird. Thought I’d bring it before the court. Thanks!

Hi everyone! Recently I purchased some Aurora, North Carolina micro matrix from the Aurora, North Carolina Fossil Museum. I am having trouble Identifying the shark teeth because they are posteriors and it is not very easy to find good pics of posterior shark teeth. The last tooth is not a shark tooth but not sure if it is a dolphin or if it is a whale tooth? And I am not sure if the second to last tooth is a shark tooth or if it is a fish tooth? Thanks in advance! -@fossilhunter21

Hi everyone! just thought I would ask my friends on TFF if they think this is a partial meg tooth, I think it looks like one but I just want to be sure. Thanks in advance! -@fossilhunter21

There was a post asking about bones found in the aurora museum fossil dig pits. Mostly I have found dolphin vertebrae, and assorted shark teeth and lots of unidentified bone fragments. I dont know what this is , it looks mostly complete and has some obvious muscle attatchment sites- I was thinking humerus but the broken surface has a flat articulating surface. Help will be appreciated
