I apologize for the subpar pictures, they were taken in a hurry at my boyfriends house. We went beach combing along a river "beach" about a mile, as the bird flies from the ICW in South Carolina. His daughter found what appears be a vertebra? I really don't have the slightest inclination.

Hey all, I was fossil hunting on Boca Grande beach in SW Florida and found this interesting piece. It has a unique pattern on it, almost like a glypodont but I know it's not that. Curious to what it could be?

Found this along the coast in South Texas. Completely mineralized. It measures approximately 3x3 inches and 1/2 inch thick. Sea turtle?

I found this yesterday on Bracklesham Bay beach and I think it could be the end of a squid beak. Can anyone confirm whether my guess is correct? Thanks Chris

This was found tumbling in the ocean waves at Myrtle Beach, SC, USA. I think it is missing some distinguishing characteristics. Can anyone help us age or identify? Thank you in advance!

I found these two teeth on Kure Beach in North Carolina when I was a kid. I have tried looking at guides online but I haven’t been able to find any that point out distinguishing characteristics of each species, they only show photos. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I’m eager for some help identifying this shark tooth fragment I found while beach combing on Hilton Head, SC. I’ve found many, many sand tiger shark teeth here over the years, but this is by far the largest. It’s only a fragment, but the size with the huge nodule on the root is so very different from what I usually find on the beach. Is this indeed from a type of sand tiger shark? I’d love to learn more about it.

Hi, I just thought I would ask others if this looks like a plant stalk. I thought it looked kind of like a palmetto trunk (but much smaller). Won't hurt my feelings if you think its a rock, but the repetitive pattern just made me want to ask - maybe others have seen similar specimens? It is very dense and polished from ocean/sand tumbling. (I didn't include a picture of the opposite side because it was crushed/broken and had no valuable detail) Thanks,

For years I have wondered if the coral pieces that I have found on the North Myrtle beach area are modern day or fossil. If fossil from what time period. I have looked on the internet but have not found any clarity. I have found individual coral colonies and ones attached to various shells. The corals are hard stony in nature and are in rounded fashion not branching. I hope that someone can answer this which i would greatly appreciate. Does modern South Carolina have native corals and if so can anyone give me a reference to them as i cannot find any information.

This "bone" (sounds like fossil bone not modern) has a very distinctive grooved surface. It is 4 1/2" long, 3" high 1" thick. In the top groove my index finger fits perfectly. In what looks to me to be a joint surface (cup depression) my thumb conforms. I have found Cretaceous fossils-Exogyra and sea urchins. In previous years fossil shark teeth. The beach has been "renourished" I was told from 3 miles offshore. Very few shark teeth this year and they have been Miocene/Pliocene--great white, a small meg. Seen others with bull and sand tigers but no Cretaceous shark teeth. This bone has a very distinctive coloration--light brown/yellowish. I found 2 other fossils with this color. (Will post these later) Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

This unusual fossil is3 1/4 inches long, 2 3/4 at widest point and tapers to 2 inches. It is 1 1/8,inches thick. The shape is somewhat oval and tapers. This is the 2nd fossil with this coloration that I found in November. Fossils on the beach range from Cretaceous--Exogyra shells and sea urchins to Miocene/Pliocene megalodon and great white shark teeth. The beach has been "renourished" after a recent hurricane. Formerly abundant shark teeth are now very sparse. It does not appear to be bone. The idea of a "tusk" occurred to me but I am unfamiliar with what a tusk would look like. Any ideas or even better questions would be appreciated. Previously (yesterday) posted a bone found in the same area. Additional pictures will follow. The reverse side

Is this horn coral? went to our local beach here in southern new jersey today for a walk and where they dredged sand from the ocean to the beach I found this,,,,,,,,, can someone confirm and maybe tell me aprox how old it is and if this is common for the southern new jersey beaches??? thanks

Hello, Found this on the beach here in Shishmaref, Alaska. I have doubts that it is terribly old, but then again, there are fossils found here quite often. It's just that the location...seems like someone would have picked it up by now. I found it right at the head of one of the main beach access trails. It is heavier than I would expect of regular bone of this size, though, and it is very hard. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks!

Miatria's recent post regarding her nice sloth tooth ( http://www.thefossilforum.com/index.php?/topic/74577-is-this-a-sloth-tooth/ ), got me to thinking about a piece I've had for a few years. I found it on the beach at Edisto Island, S.C. which is known for it's Pleistocene fossils. The absence of enamel and the texture reminds me of @Miatria's find. What do you think?

I found this tooth a couple of years ago on the beach in North Topsail Beach, North Carolina. At the time, there were quite a few fossils on the beach due to a beach restoration project. I know it is a stretch, but could it be a raptor tooth? Dromaeosaur? The tooth is water worn and if there were serrations, they have been worn down.
