Looking for suggestions for last minute hunt near Birmingham, AL
RandyB posted a topic in Fossil Hunting Trips
I will be traveling through the Birmingham Alabama area Thursday afternoon/Friday morning - 6/8-9. Looking online there seems to be a decent opportunity to look for road cut exposures and such in the area. I would be most interested in plant material if anyone has any suggestions though anything would work for a mini hunt. Any assistance would be most welcome.-

Just wanted to intoduce myself. Been hunting fossils for the past 4 years and really love it. I also collect shells and the two have a LOT in common! Can't wait to get involved with the Fossil Forum. Hope to make some friends here!

Greetings folks! These are a few shark teeth my grandson and I obtained from creeks out of Alabama. About One hour due east of Birmingham. Just outside of Talladega Alabama. I the the bigger ones are Sand sharks, just a guess, but I'm not sure if the other ones are or not. And trying to figure out the age, I think may may be cretaceous period. Could someone please verify, or correct my thinking in these matters. Any information would be great. Thanks Joe

My brother and I are travelling to Birmingham, Alabama on October 2-4. We may have a few hours on the 3rd, so I was wondering about any sites nearby. I would love to visit the Minkin Footprint site, but I guess its off limits outside of official field trips. Are there any other interesting places that are pretty well known and easy to get to?
