Hey all. I'm looking for some fossil wood that is a dark blue. Something similar to the color of lapis. Most of the blue forest wood I've looked at is more black than blue. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I was looking closely to determine what this rock was and I found this blue sparkle that caught my eye. Found in North Arkansas. Can anyone ID this for me? It’s tiny, but pretty.

Good day everyone, The pictures below show from what i know an ammonite fossil imprint, but what is it? How can it be that it is such deep blue color? As shown in the second picture the fossil is about 1 cm long, it was found in Aguas de Madeiros, Portugal. Any insight would be greatly appriciated!

Hi. I have an agate that I acquired and not sure what type it is, and where it could be from. Maybe Lake Superior or north. Looks like fortress, yet all the eyes and spots make me not sure. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

It's good to work for a mining company! When coworkers from Carlsbad, New Mexico found out I was becoming a geologist/paleontologist, they sent me a little gift. Rare, American blue Halite!

My parents built a house into a hillside of glacial till in SE Wisconsin. The area is known for Silurian fossils. I find a lot of corals, crinoids, clam-like critters. Many of the fossils are in chert. Some are crystalized. I just pick them up as they erode out of the hillside. I found this is a pile of sand/gravel/dirt that the contractor left next to the driveway. At first I thought it was a piece of plastic. I took it to the university geology department. A drop of liquid (vinegar? I can't remember) fizzed and she told me it was made of calcium carbonate. It is an odd shape with straight ridges. I can't photograph under a microscope (although I'll give it a try) but the blue color is made up of very bright blue crystals that look like sugar - like the colored sugar you might put on cookies. There are some layers of slightly shiny material on the brown side.
