Live in IA, found in river rock at a Dollar General. Looked like small fossilized potato. After examining it, , I put it in vinegar and water to clean and something started to appear. So I stopped, didn't want to damage what was inside or take off the remaining shell. I do know that river rock is shipped from NW states and Canada. Questions are, what type of egg? And is it a body fossil with embryo? 2 1/2 inches (L) × 1 1/2 inches (lg end) and 1 inch (small end) (W), 4 inches circumference.

Ediacaran body fossils are extremely rare in North Carolina. This specimen came from a well dated Ediacaran Site. The site produces Aspidellas, microbial mat, and trace fossils. The Cid fm is the unit exposed in this quarry. Some have argued that this is microbial mat that had been influenced by the movement of water. If you look closely there is at least two specimens and the structure doesn't appear to show the MISS type features. I have sent some photos off to paleontologists who specialize in Ediacaran fossils. I'm eagerly waiting to find out what they think. I have had at least one paleontologist who believes this will be the first record of the presence of these species in the NC Ediacaran!

Here In Washington State! I purchased an estate with a 1925 Argentina Body & Trace fossil collection from a 1924-25 Meteor expedition, the collection has been sealed since 1935 and I am just now archiving the items with photos and as much information as I have. Although I was told all of the items were collected in the same area as the meteor, the specimens span over Millions of years (Billions if going by the estimated 4.5 Billion year old Meteorite) Ammonites at 409-66Ma to Ground Cherries at 52 Ma with the fruit fossilized and a few with showings of the husk at the tops. There are over 400 pieces so I've got a lot of work to do. I look forward to your comments as well as needed help with some of the loose items that are not easily ID (I know there are other species of fruits, nuts pictured below, this is what is next for me to archive)

These three fish specimens are a little harder to see in the pictures but if you tilt the fossils just right you can see the outlines much better. These were only labeled "fish" so I have not researched the species of fish found thus far in Argentina. Out of context you would really have to look hard to see the fossils. Please let me know if I should shoot these a bit differently?- 2 comments
