This weekend as I was out rockhounding for quartz crystals I found this interesting piece. It looks very much like bone to me. Any insight or information would be appreciated. I will add more pics in the comment section. Thank you!

From Woodbine formation, picked it because it looked like maybe something other than typical weird concretion, still does, but when I looked at little protrusion I saw what looks like part of jaw and something else. Had a heck of time trying to clear pictures, two teeth are visible and looks like rest broke off maybe. I'm guessing Enchodus?

I visited Folly Beach this summer. Despite the heat I looked for fossils for 15-30 minutes and was lucky to find 1/2 meg and some fragmented fossil bones. I wonder about this one. Maybe a bone or a tooth? It kind of resembles a beaver tooth, but it's big and it has more of a bone structure. But the inner structure (filled with sediment?) looks strange to me. Size is 4,4 by 2,5 cm. Any idea's?

Found in the Cle Elum, Washington area. This bone was found in the river, appears to be agatized. Would love to know if anyone could identify it. I wold imagine it’s a type of digit. Thank you in advance.

I found this in one of the creeks (bayou) here in southwest Mississippi. I have found a number of mastodon parts in the same. The most noticeable feature is a curved channel, much like that of a tooth canal. Does anyone know what part of what beast if might have belonged to? Thanks in advance.

Hello, I found some fossil teeth on a friends ranch in Eastern Oregon and was hoping for some help with ID. The area has been described as Mascall Formation (16 Ma) from the Miocene, however there aren't any detailed geologic maps of the region and I suspect some areas may be closer to the Pliocene. The teeth were found as float material from several places. I think #1 or #2 may be Merychippus or Pliohippus (horses) and #4 may be Equus (horse). #1-3 were all found in the same general area and I am fairly confident it is Mascall Fm (Miocene). However, #4 was found in another area and appears to be Equus. Since Equus is from the Pliocene, I am thinking it could be from the younger (Pliocene) Rattlesnake Fm or an undescribed strata. I am a little more unsure about #3 and think I could be a rhino or similar large mammal. Thank you for your help,

Hi everyone, I found what looks like bones fossils in a beach that has plant fossils from the Pensilvanian, mostly ferns. I see one smaller bone and a larger partial bone with the ball joint. They are both in the same block. Bone looking mineralization or fossil? If those are fossil bones I would assume some large land or amphibious animal to coexist with ferns. Hope someone can shed some light. Thank you, Marcos smaller bone larger partial bone back of the rock

Hello everyone! Just yesterday by a river in south central Indiana I found this. It did not look like a normal rock so I decided to keep it. I think it is a bone, but I cannot tell what kind of bone it is or how old it is. Is it a bone and if so, what kind?

I found this bone in my yard while clearing out trees. One end has been cut. I don’t know if it’s fossilized or not and I don’t know what it came from. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I have a fossil from Seven Stars (Mahantango Formation, Givetian of the Devonian) that is shiny and looks like some fish material I have. However, I am not an expert on bones and could use some help. Is this bone, and if not, what is it?

here are some stuff that I found in the aquia formation over the weekend. this button is weird to me, my gut tells me it might be a vert, but it could also be a fish tooth perhaps? this is a weird one, it looks like a Galeocerdo tiger shark, but i havent read anything of these existing at the Aquia formation, much less finding them at purse. bone fragments? would it be possible to tell if its reptile bone? this bone is interesting because it has some underside of its surface still intact. it almost reminds me of a skull fragment maybe? lastly, a nice lady gave me this piece, whats funny is that she found it two minutes after I told her I was looking for crocodile teeth.

Found a peculiar bone in the upper HSCF this weekend and am unsure of what it is. I occasionally find marine material, but for the most part the area is all terrestrial dinosaur fossils. What could it be?

BirdsAreDinosaurs posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hi all. This specimen is advertised online as a dinosaur metacarpal from Taouz. I don't know much about Maroccan dinosaur bones, but I wouldn't be surprised if this bone a complete fake, composited or heavily restored (some areas appear very smooth) item. Pictures are pretty bad, but it is all I have got. What do you think? If it is real, would it be possible to id it to some level? Thanks! -
Found at low tide on the Maine Coast (an unlikely place to find fossils, apparently). Approximately 3 inches longest side. Looks a bit like the dinosaur bone I've seen from Utah, except there aren't any dinosaur fossils in Maine. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!

Hello all, Recently on a trip to Alberta I received this in a museum. It was labelled as a dinosaur bone, but not further information. Would anyone be able to provide a clearer picture? Thanks!

I hope everyone is having a great summer. I was walking on the beach the other day and for the first time I found a piece of bone. I have been walking this beach for the past 5 years and have never found a piece of bone. It is 3 inches long and at its widest point it is one inch. Hopefully it is IDable. I have no knowledge of bone material at all so any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I also happened to find a shark tooth. I believe it is a lower Carcharhinus plumbeus (Sandbar Shark) 13mm. It is a great color and is serrated. Also the root and blade is thin/flat. That is one of the reasons I believe it is Sandbar Shark. If someone can confirm my ID it would be greatly appreciated. I hope you enjoy the pics.

A few weeks ago I went along AA Highway here in Kentucky and collected a number of mortality plates from the side of the road. I had cleaned up this plate and had it sitting to the side as I tried to figure out how I was going to display it. One of my cats knocked it over last night and split off a chunk that exposed this concretion looking thing that was hidden beneath the top layer of crushed brachiopod shells. Unfortunately when I picked it up to examine it, the top of this concretion looking thing fell off. It sent little fragments everywhere. When I looked back to the main part of the mortality plate I saw this shape. I'm not sure if this is anything of any importance or just an anomaly of the rock. My brain keeps telling me that it looks like bone of some sort (well impression of bone), but I know I'm not experienced enough to know. I collected the top of the concretion looking thing and what fragments I could find and took a picture of them as well. I couldn't pick up the other fragments as they just crumbled in my fingers. Also, I guess it's would be important information this concretion looking things is a little over 3 inches long and about an inch and a half wide. Did my cat just find something of importance in my mortality plate?

Hello! I've had this piece in my collection for a while, and for the longest time I thought it was a bone. It's very heavy, more so than my other rocks this size. It also has a bone-like appearence. Any idea if this is indeed a bone or what it could be? I know this is a fossil forum and not a rock one, but if this is just a rock, any idea what it is and why it looks like that? And why is it so heavy? Thank you!

Hello, I am currently on a cross country road trip with my family. Yesterday I was jogging through the desert Near Carlsbad , New Mexico and discovered what is obviously a bone but seems to be fossilized. It feels more like stone than a bone. I was curios If anyone knows what it could potentially be. I am a Middle School History teacher from NJ and would love to use it in my classroom if I had more information. Thank you in advance
