Hi all, I was looking over some finds from Sunset Beach when I reexamined this and thought it looked organic. Sticks to my tongue, feels relatively heavy. Is this a fossil bone? Sunset Beach is awesome and I definitely recommend the visit, especially before the shipwreck is fully lost to the sea. Fossils seem really rare there, but the colorful quartz and minerals polished by waves make up for it.

I found this at a Goodwill. Is this a bone? It looks like too much bark to be wood. The white part is far less dense compared to the center (darker area).

Ok, so I went back to the river today to look again at my non-track find. While I was there, I found this. It’s definitely a rock, but is it bone, or is it cake? It’s bizarre, with one porous side and all pores apparently aligned the same direction. Sorry, non-Americans, I will get a metric ruler.

Does someone recognize from what type of creature is that bone fragment. Thank you in advance. It was found in Buglaria near the City of Veliko Tarnovo. Exact location unknown.

I found this in a rock bed. I'm in College Station, TX and was looking for petrified wood (which I found plenty of). I picked this up and the holes really make me think its bone. It's definitely a rock, it clinks when I hit it with metal and is dense like a rock. There's one side that is more smooth and not as holey, but I think that's where it got worn down. The grid below is 5mm x 5mm squares.

This is yet another strange looking rock/bone, from the decorative river rock around my pool. I tried to catch the best parts of the detailed areas, which to me resemble the porous look of a bone. What do ya'll think?

Hi! I’ve had these two pieces for about 45 years. I figure it’s time for a better I.D.. I bought both of these in a little rock shop outside of rapid city. Both are supposed to be from s.d. The first piece is supposed to be dinosaur….

Hello, I'm curious if someone can help with this find. We went to look at the dinosaur footprints in Praia Grande, in Colares Portugal. While at the beach we found this possible fossil. I'm really wondering if someone can confirm if it is a bone? I did the lick test and it did seem to have some stick to it. Thank you for your time!

I did find this item on the river bank of the Mississippi river, in a tiny cove right smack between Alton, IL and St. Louis county, MO. No digging required, I was just trolling the embankment. Do you think it is bone? All the photos are the same item, just different angles and close ups.

I found this on the beach in North Carolina. I am fairly certain is it some type of bone. Can anyone help me identify it?

Head scratcher here sorry, I found this in Maori Bay, just south of Muriwai. Looks like bone, feels like bone, but as the first picture makes clear, sitting in an obviously volcanic rock. There are recorded starfish, tube worms etc from the area but I dont know enough to assess correctly. If it helps, definitely porous. *edit* there was a clear indentation in the rock once removed, not just resting on top.

These were found in Myrtle Beach, SC. My 5 year old loves to search the beach for sharks teeth and shells. He picked these items up and begged to keep them. Just wonder exactly what they are. Thanks in advance for your help.

I found this on the beach in Cherry Grove South Carolina. It's about 2 inches long. Im not sure what it is but I feel like it's a bone or tooth of some kind because of the brown discoloration on the inside but I really don't know. Will leave it to the professionals of fossil forum to give me some suggestions.

Hi, so my grandpa gave me this and we both have absolutely no idea what it is. He does not remember where he got it from, so I’m sorry about that. The fossil itself it very smooth but has slightly raised ridges that go along it vertically. The hole does not go through it, but about 1/3 of the way down. We started to wonder if it is perhaps a bone fragment that just got fossilized but that’s why I’m here. Hopefully the pictures I took can help. It’s okay if no one knows, just wanted a general idea. Thanks in advance

Hello and Happy New Year from Miami! I found an interesting rock on the beach a little while back and I can't seem to determine what it is. Since it was found at Miami Beach, it should be Pleistocene Miami Limestone. The specimen is about 3 inches in length. It looks quite similar to an image I found online of a seal humerus: Thank you :)

This was Given to me with some arrowheads and I’m trying to figure out what is it, what it came from. I think it is. Fossil and Maybe a vertebrae of some sort? But that is just My under educated guess.

Greetings Masters What an unbelievable forum here. I found this during my walk on the beach, difficult for me to determine if it is a simple rock, a petrified wood or a petrified bone. Please find the pictures (scale in cm). Thank you everybody. Octave

I know this photo isn't much to go by but I didn't have a better camera and no tools to extract it from the large rock so I could bring it home. I just hope I can still find it. This is about 10 cm long, found in Spring Creek, Cooke County, Texas. These are marine, limestone deposits with abundant ammonites. It may not be bone but I can't think what else it might be. That could be a scaphopod below it but I haven't seen them here before.
