A speciment recently found in Argolis region of Greece . Upper Anisian - Carnian acording to the scripts but most probably Carnian (lowermost Upper Triassic)

This is a Carnian aged natural association of Traumatocrinus crinoids, and either Trachyceras, or Neoprotrachyceras Ammonoids from Guanling Guizhou province China.

Found recently this specimen in the wider Epidaurus region Greece . The matrix rock as well the as the ammonite is green silicified limestone with jasper pigments or enlosures in some parts . Considered geologically Upper Anisian - Carnian . Morphologically is close to Nevadites but not for sure as I am no expert in identification . Any help to ID welcome

Over 230 million years ago massive Canadian volcanism caused greenhouse warming and a mass extinction that led to increased dinosaur numbers later. This is the Carnian Mass Extinction event https://phys.org/news/2020-09-discovery-mass-extinction.html

A very well preserved herrerasaurid dinosaur, Gnathovorax cabreirai is described in the attached paper. For us collectors it gives us clues around Carnian age teeth. Unfortunately most of the teeth available to collectors are Norian or earlier in age. https://peerj.com/articles/7963/ Unfortunately the paper does not do a great job describing the teeth, here is what we have: "All tooth crowns are blade like, caudally curved and labiolingually compressed. The premaxillay and dentary teeth lack serrations in their mesial margins. However, in the distal margin there are small serrations that form a right angle with the main axis of the tooth. In the maxillary teeth the serration occur in both margins."

Upper Carnian/Tuvalian ammonoid fauna from the historical location/ditch on Vordersandling. The shown ammonoids come from a small lense that was found by me several years ago. No coarser ribbed Projuvavites was found only Juvavites bacchus MOJS. Therefore I range this fauna to the dilleri Zone. Tropites aff. subbullatus, Paratropites sp., Discotropites sp., Megaphyllites sp., Sandlingites cf. oribasus and Arcestes sp. -

just finished a lower Carnian slab with two Nautiloids(probably Mojsvaroceras cf. perarmatus) Additionally a questionable bone fragment appeared during prep. (the second bone within 20 years of collecting in the Hallstatt limestone) Unfortunly I didn't take "before" pics because I didn't think that it turns out so well. Can anyone confirm that this is bone structure on the polished part? I think so, but I am not sure. The ammonoid on top is a Monophyllites simonyi. So the slab is of lower Carnian, Julian time. regards Andreas

Had a good excuse to explore the Falling Creek formation which I think is upper Triassic ( Carnian?) ...a nice walk in the woods and some plants to boot! Haven't had a chance to make ID's yet...

Tropites torquillus MOJS.(the Big one)div.Tropites sp., Trachysagenites Sp.

Slab with Tropites torquillus MOJS.(the big one), Tropites fusobullatus MOJS.(the lower one) and 2x Tropites ssp.(left end and right top) The middle ammonoid on the right end is a Trachysagenites sp. The small smooth ones are Arcestes sp. The orthocone Nautiloid points to the direction of the palaeocurrent. Prepared from the downside. Big parts of the upper side of this ammonoids are disolved due to the strong condensation in this limestone. Stratigraphic range and occurence: Upper Triassic/ Carnian/Tuvalian, subbullatus zone. Hallstatt limestone of Austria. -
Hello On my second fossil trip this year I decided to do a little exploration in an area which was hitherto not visited by me. It didn’t take long and I stumbled over a limestone block that shows the typical lower Carnian (Julian) oxidic hardground crust. I was surprised because the geological map of this area only shows Norian strata. The weathered brown and black, oxidic cauliflowers like structures (by the point of the chisel) within the limestone are microbial reef build-ups of the sessile foraminifera Tolypammina gregaria, WENDT and Frutexites sp. They are a sign for less to zero sedimentation during a very long time. After splitting the block did not show many fossils. Only some orthocone nautiloids were visible. Then I found an ammonoid (Sphingites meriani MOJS.) and therefore I decided to take that block with me and prep out all orthocone nautiloids. Normally my focus is more on ammonoids because they are easier to insert into the Triassic timescale. During prepwork several small lower Carnian ammonoids pulled out. Prep take roughly 30 hours. Ammonoids: Arcestes periolcus MOJS., Monophyllites simonyi HAUER, Dittmarites sp., Sirenites sp., Trachyceras sp., Pompeckjites layeri Nautiloids : Syringoceras sp., Orthoceras triadicum MOJS., Orthoceras dubium(HAUER) Aulacoceras cf. inducens(BRAUN) All prepwork was done with different pneumatic chisels. The orthocone nautiloids mark the direction where the current comes from. All orthocone nautili do not lay in the same limestone horizon. Therefore several different current angles are visible.

Diplosirenites raineri MOJS.=big one in the middle, 3x Trachyceras sp., Mojsvarites agenor(MUENSTER),=smooth evolute one on right edge, Pompeckjites layeri(HAUER), Megaphyllites jarbas(MUENSTER), div. Sirenites sp., Dictyoconites sp., Atractites sp., Arcestes periolcus MOJS.,.. A species of Eupinacoceras sp., most probably the ancestor of the following Tuvalian Eupinacoceras rex MOJS. is on this block too. The slab is prepped from the underside. On the backside the marly horizon of the Carnian Pluvial Event is shown. -

I am happy because I ve just finished prep work of an upper Carnian ammonoid block. The block was found in spring this year (2013). It was prepared from the downside. Prep time is about 40 hours. First pic is the rough block. It looks unspectacular because it was a dry day and the real colours of the limestone can not be seen. After washing its red and grey colour is visible. During prep work I took of some limestone parts and ammonoids to reach the fossils below. Unfortunly a fault runs through the block. You can see the dislocation of the bigger horizontal laying orthocone nautiloid. Therfore the uppermost ammonoid and the small nautiloid nearby needed a little restauration. (resplit, dislocate and glue again) The block shows a typical tethydial ammonoid fauna of the uppermost aonoides zone/Carnian/Upper Triassic. On the backside of the slab the marly horizon of the uppermost Julian, Carnian Pluveal Event starts.
