    Sauropod Claw?

This is advertised as a Sauropod claw from Niger, no further locality listed. The morphology does seem kind of correct, but I have my doubts and something seems a bit off to me. Any opinions?
  2. Location is kem kem beds, seller said less than 5% restoration. I know nothing about claws but this one almost looks too good to be true and too perfect but I’m not sure how to definitively tell if it’s real or fake
  3. Hello everyone! I'm going to start posting fossils individually, to gain more traction on the forum. I'll post a few fossils I am worried are fake or composite today, then repost any fossils I have yet to receive identification for with higher-quality images in about a week. I bought this Edmontosaurus tooth fossil from a somewhat unreliable website online. Is it real? If any of you need more high quality photographs, please tell me. Also, as I don't know where else to post this, I purchased this Tarbosaurus claw replica a while ago. Do any of you know which digit it comes from? Thank you and hope you have a good day!

    Hell creek digits and claws

Hi everyone, I brought a small collection of hell creek digits and claws, and wanted some help with identification. They come from Garfield county and are mostly small. Appreciate any help and thanks a lot ! first is a tiny claw, theropod or bird?? Measures about .375in second one looks like a theropod claw? Maybe dromeosaurid or struthiomimus ? .5 inches third one is a little over a inch, maybe pachy/thesce? 4th one not sure what species 1.25inch 5th one 1 inch. Turtle? 6th theropod? Dromeosaurid? Troodontid? 1 inch 7th a 1.25inch digit not sure what species. again thanks for all the help, I’m not very comfortable with identification of digits and claws yet :).

    Strange find

Good afternoon, I'm new to the site, I own a house in Florida and found the item in the pictures below. It looks like a claw, looks to have pores. Its heavier than a rock of the same size and is non metallic. Its dark brown almost black Any help identifying it would be great.

    Tooth/ claw?

Hi, I dug this up from the ground while working today, any ideas on what it is.

    Waurika Permian microfossils

Hello all, I have been sorting through some more Waurika Permian micro-matrix recently, and I was excited to find not just one, but two claws in one day when I hadn't found a single one before this! One is larger than the other and more curved and fearsome looking (well, as far as microfossils go). The bigger one is just over 4mm and the smaller one is a bit over 2mm. I also included a piece which looks maybe like a weird helodus tooth, maybe a fish mouth plate, or maybe a tiny prehistoric iron. Its size is just under 4mm. I'll summon the experts who helped me out last time, @ThePhysicist and @jdp, would you mind taking a look at these? Claw # 1: 4mm Claw #2: 2mm Unknown fishy bit: 4mm That's all, thanks for looking!

    Suchomimus Foot Claw?

Looking at purchasing this claw and it’s labeled as a suchomimus foot claw. There is restoration but was told only the tip has been restored. Is there more resto on this claw or any other red flags from what you can see. Any info on this claw will be appreciated!
  9. Dear all, I've just stumbled upon this forum and am grateful to all of you for all the information and support you're giving. I would like to start a collection of fossils but have basically no knowledge on the matter. A few days ago I saw an auction on a common website with "expert confirmation and estimated price" and it was expiring a few hours later. I saw an opportunity and jumped on it. And by looking at the claw - I think I got scammed. So far I haven't payed for anything, but I'm being pressured to do so. Could someone tell me if all 3 are fake? The skeleton and the claw are from one seller, the skull is from another. The pictures of the claw obviously show 2 different ones, but they should be "the one" I won. Please advise

    Theropod or sauropod claw?

This is a decent sized footclaw from Niger. I do get they are very hard to identify with species and that is not what I'm after. I am however after if its a Theropod claw or a Sauropod?

    Claw or horn core?

I really have no clue on this one. My best guess is some kind of Core of something. Seems to have bone structure inside. It is fossilized and heavy. Found in North Central Nebraska Miocene.
  13. Threw this in the rock pile at first until it dried out and could see more clearly. Any ideas?

Indeterminate claw from Morocco, Kem Kem.

Hi guys, these days i was given this claw coming from kem kem as a birthday gift. This fossil was sold as a theropod claw, but it looks anything but to me. I assumed it could belong either to a sauropod cub or to a strange lizard not yet described. What do you think? THANKS XD

    Hastings Tooth and Claw?

Hello, I wanted to ask about a couple fossils from the Hastings subgroup, Wealden supergroup, Wealden of Sussex. One is a tooth labeled Baryonyx and measures 0.4 cm. At that size I'm assuming this is just a tooth tip or from a juvenile? The other is a "theropod" claw measuring 0.7 cm. It's very tiny and has an odd protrusion on the underside towards the articulating end, which reminds me more of some bird claw cores. Is this even dinosaurian?
  16. At the SMAM show. Saw this one but what is it? Khourigba, Morocco

    Tooth or claw?

Found this in the Peace River here in Wauchula Florida. I can't seem to figure out if it's a tooth or a claw. Thanks in advance.

ID small theropod claw from Niger

Hello, I hope someone can help identify this claw from Niger. As with almost all material from Niger, information about where it was found is not available. But I hope someone has an idea based on the external features. So far, two possible options have been mentioned for this approximately 4 cm / 1.6 inches theropod claw. The options are two theropods that fall within the Noasauridea family. Option 1 is an Afromimus (Elrhaz formation, early Cretaceous) and option 2 is a Spinostropheus (Tiouraren, middle Jurassic). There's Hematite on the claw. Hope someone has an idea. Thanks in advance! - Mike

    Tooth or Claw... Fossil??

While in the Superstition Wilderness, AZ I came across tis rock with what appears as a fossil imbedded into it. To me it looks similar to a claw or perhaps a tooth. Something unique is that there are small tubular pieces comprised of the same material as the claw/tooth, and are tubular (hollow) like the skeleton pieces of a bird. Any help in identifying it, is greatly appreciated.

    Strange Claw

Anyone see this before & maybe know what it is? Found this claw today and it has a weird spike on one side, and a bit of an odd shape too. I believe it’s ceratopsian but if it’s hadrosaur I’d appreciate the correction. DPF
  23. Hello everyone! I’m a new member to the site but have been using and reading post for years for identification sources. I have a piece I found yesterday that I didn’t recognize and has me wondering. I found it where I have been digging mammoth remains and don’t see it coming from a mammoth. It’s fossilized bone and porous. Not sure if it’s a horn, bone, claw or what? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

    Real Spinosaurus claw?

Getting much better with recognizing fake Spinosaurus claws, however I'm having a little difficulty with this one. I'm seeing clear bone structure, but am wondering if it's just a carved piece of bone. Any opinions, @Troodon?

    Niger theropod claw ID

Is anyone able to actually ID a claw like this? It is 9CM straight. Footclaw or handclaw even? Niger claw as you can see. And I am aware there is not that much information to ID a claw. But this one is pretty much complete.
