possible shark poo? the one on the right the larger of the two is worn and weathered have doubts on that one but the one on the left with the broken ends found some interesting things embedded in it will post then in next post. both appear to look wrapped or spiral bith from gravel load from Brazos River west of Houston Texas.

This is from the Keefer Formation of the Clinton Group - Silurian. This site is a small iron strip pit in Duncansville, Blair County, Pennsylvania. When I first collected this I thought it might be a coprolite. Later a very experienced local fossil collector Id'ed it as a hematitic replacement of an orthoceras cephalapod. After looking at recent posts could it be something else or is it too lacking in detail to tell. I think its actually a cast not a replacement.

The files I have are too large, I’m hoping to be able to post more pictures in the thread. These items were found on the Jurassic coast in the uk. The item in this image is smooth and solid, albeit there are parts of it broken off, it was whole when we found it.

Thanks to my friend @Jeffrey P ! He had given me some matrix that he collected at the Lower Permian Waurika Oklahoma site on his epic road trip this summer. I have spent some time breaking down the clay matrix, and going through the remaining bits to look for fossils. I've found a few teeth so far, but this was pretty cool. I was putting some hunks of matrix into different solutions to try to break down the clay, and came across this larger solid bit. Upon cleaning it, I realized it mus be a coprolite. It has many inclusions, Orthocanthus teeth, what appear to be bone bits, and fish scales. @Carl @GeschWhat may be interested in this. Enjoy! Just sharing afew of my finds i've been working on today. Firstly a big, marine reptile or fish coprolite that i expected to pop out of the matrix. I'm not sure if it'll look better kept in, but it's pretty delicate. Secondly a lobster, claw or body part. Not sure which. Remember i'm still new to prepping, so everything is new to me.

I've been poking around in some Wellington fm micro matrix, permian age, Jackson Co, OK & thought I found a small worn spiral shell, so I put it with the other items I had pulled out. Later, when looking at the items closer, I realized it wasn't a shell & that I had some slightly crappy matrix... literally. A small coprolite 6 mm in length by 4 mm wide & containing what I think are fish scales. So now I'm digging through the matrix again to see if there is any more. The pics are with a dino lite with no photo stacking software, so please bear with them. This is the one thing I never even considerd that I might find in micro matrix.

Hello! I'm relatively new to this forum (joined 12 minutes ago (haha)) and was following this thread. I attached three images of a rock I found in a creek in Western Pennsylvania. Any chance that it could be a coprolite? I thought it looked similar to the images I saw on this thread. If it's not, does anyone have any guesses?? Thanks!

I know the odds are against me but this rock is odd so wondering if it could be a worn coprolite? I am not familiar with it so I just don't now...the weight feels off a bit and it is a bit tacky when wet but i just don't know how tacky it is supposed to be been wrong before. pics are of it dry will post pics of wet next...........

Here I get frustrated again. This baby is about 1” x 1/2” x 1/8” This BETTER be coprolite. It even tastes like chicken..... I see grass and green (a few are scratches but most are not)

Hi - Please forgive me if I have violated many rules. I am not tech savvy. Nor was my deceased dad. We hunted many shark teeth, old bottles and arrowheads together. He always told me that the object in the attached pictures is dinosaur poop. Is it? Thanks for your help. If you are unable to tell I will gladly take more pictures. He grew up and hunted in Maryland so I assume that he found this in MD but I my be wrong as he loved fossil hunting and travelled extensively. Thanks a bunch!

Found this rock in stream bed gravels piled by dump truck next to Road #1013 in the Mae Win Sub-district area, about 50km south-west of Chiang Mai, Thailand. I've been rock hunting in the Intanon mountain area for five years, looking mostly for fossilized wood, but never saw a rock like this. It seems to be a fair match to Internet photos of fish dung ;-] Looks like there is a small bone fragment in the white colored area (see close up #122312) of the flat side. Appreciate any help with an ID> Regards

Hey everyone! About 2 weeks ago, the VERY generous @AshHendrick gave a portion of his Aurora pile, straight from the mine! I put it around a wood frame in my yard, and have hunted it for hours almost every day. This will be an ongoing thread, I will prob not update every day, but at least weekly. This is the pile. It's bigger than it looks in this pic (about 5.5 x 5.5 feet [a little less than 2 meters i think]) What I do is I sift into the bucket, so I don't go through it twice. I dump it somewhere else. Day 1 Coral Fish vert I think this is coprolite, but I'm not sure Turtle shell Cool rock with turritella another turritella Big steinkern Sorry about the blurry pic, the only one I took of the ray teeth The shark teeth Find of the day shark tooth in matrix the shells. Appreciate ID's That's day 1. more coming

I originally thought it was very thin bone but i’ve been told it’s acually a coprolite. This is from near whitby. Would be interesting to know if it’s from a fish or marine reptile. Probably impossible though.

I got in a 3 hr hunt before the rain and flooding. Once the water started coming up I had to make a quick exit but still got wet. I managed to find a few things.

I just got an awesome coprolite. I generally hate those things, and would never pay money for one, but I came across this one and it has so many visible identifiable remains, I couldn't help being really impressed. Ive always wanted to see a coprolite that had clear remains in it. Sadly they're much smaller and harder to see in person than in these pictures, so I can only use these display pictures for the time being, until I take a magnified look. There's clearly fish scales, seemingly from different types of fish, and apparently squid hooks and such. I'm excited to find a good illuminated magnifying glass and really studying it up close:) Maybe even a microscope to take a closer look!

I walked in tracks all day hunting but still managed a few finds. I really like the coprolite full of little fish bones and the Pleistocene horse ankle bone. I believe the little fish jaw is Saurodon.

was out looking today found several ... I found this reddish stone and decided to look at it closer are those seeds in it?...or something else?....and it looks like it has veins in it.... is it petrified wood or some type of coprolite? Tue Sep 18 15-16-55 shows the blood veins looking markings best...they run all through the stone. I am rather new to all this and I must say it is like a scavenger hunt!

I was a lucky recipient of a wonderfully CRAPPY package from @Nimravis a couple of months ago. Now I need some educating. 1. The only recognizable inclusions in this coprolite are plant fragments, most of which appear to be woody debris. There is one relatively intact "leaf?" that may be recognizable to some of you experienced Mazon Creek folks. My educated guess is it is from a lycopod. Can anyone confirm this. From what I have read, the only herbivores large enough to have produced a mass of this size are Arthropleura, the giant millipede arthropods. How exciting is that!?! 2. This one looks like some sort of stem fragment. Would this be from a lycopod as well?

Here’s a small group of items I found in the North Sulfur River (Ladonia, Texas) over the weekend. I’m curious if A,B and C are coprolite? I’m wondering what species the shark tooth is as well. Thank you in advance!

I recently purchased this Green River Knightia plate at an incredibly cheap price. I got it because of what I was pretty sure was some coprolite on the back. I am sure you know more about this stuff than I do- so was I right? Also is that bone infront of the fish? Thanks!
