2 neat fossils and a quartz rock from the creek today

hi everyone this is matthew again today in the creek again I found 2 neat fossils and a quartz crystal the first one has many corals in it and the second one has a nice horn coral sticking out of it here are some photos

I found this long cylinder sticking out of the creek wall few weeks ago. I had no choice , but to break it from the rock. Ended up in several pieces. I'm not quiet sure 100 percent what this is. I searched the forum, but can't figure out other than Rudist.

This is the first larger mammal tooth I came across while fossil hunting for megalodon teeth in South Carolina. Tooth was found in a stream in the general area between Charleston and Summerville along with some Meg teeth. What do you suppose this came from? Camel, horse, giant ground sloth?

Hello. I went down to local creek today and found some interesting mammal bones. These bones were found in 5 to 8 feet below the surface layer, but just above limestone gravel layer. I'm thinking this maybe some large animal, but does't think this is a cow bone since buried too deep.

Hello everyone, I've been doing some creek fossils hunting in Dallas area recently and came across/found numerous bones in pieces. Not sure what these vertebrate bones these belongs to, but they are 12 inches or smaller and looks like mostly arm or leg bones. These animal used to swim, crawl around here around 140 to 66 million years ago. Buried in Eagle Ford Shale or Austin Chalk limstone layers about 10 to 20 feet down from top to bottom in the creek layers.

Hey everyone, Recently took a trip with a buddy of mine down to South Carolina to search for megalodon teeth. We found many small teeth along with some decent sized ones. These were found in the general area between Charleston and Summerville. The ruler is imperial. Big thanks to everyone who offers their guesses Pictured are three of my biggest from the whole trip. What are they?

I found this rock while fossil hunting a devonian era stream. It looks symmetric, so i kept it. I just have no idea if its a fossil or not. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I found both of these bones within a foot of each other poking out of the surface of a creek beside my house (I live in North West Indiana). They both seem to pass the burn test and tap test, although this is my first time finding potentially ancient bone, so I'm not certain that they are fossilized. Could anyone more experienced confirm that these are fossilized? Or recommend any other tests?

Hello guys and gals! New to the forum and the study of geology! It is starting to be a very rewarding hobby! I found this unknown specimen in a wet creek bed in Fort Worth Tx. I have no idea what it is just trying to get more information about it that could point me in the right direction.

Our family went on a day trip with the Alabama Museum of Natural History to Trussell's Creek recently... It has a loads of Cretaceous shark teeth... when you sieve the gravel bar in certain spots, every load will bring up a couple of teeth. Most broken though! Here are some of our finds (mine and my youngest son). Mostly shark teeth, but I did find some bits of bone, baculite parts, and a fish corprolite. My daughter found a cepahalic clasper from a shark! (It went to the museum).

Howdy all! I'm super excited about this and I'm looking for expertise and knowledge from all of you! I'm working in Chapel Hill, NC next week and I've paved out a day to FINALLY visit GMR!!! I'm a total noob to this area and what to expect. I've been doing research but I would humbly ask you all about your experiences, local knowledge, where to park (safely), points of entry, tools to bring (i have an good idea), areas to avoid, concerns, etc... I'm doing this alone unfortunately but that also adds to the adventure! I still haven't found my meg yet and it will be sometime before I'm able to get back out to Brownies Beach or Calvert any time soon... SO! I'm really eager to make this visit a great work out and to find some awesome treasures to share with my little boys! I wish they were old enough to come with me!

Hey everyone!! So I posted last week (sorry had the wrong link there for a minute!) - but my mom found some interesting things in our creek and it was suggested they might be nautiloid fragments! So obviously we went back to look for more. We found a ton of rocks that are similar. I think a lot of what we found might just be concretions but here are a few that seemed interesting to me and I'd love another opinion on! They all have some sort of hole/dimple which I'm not sure is something that occurs in concretions? If it helps - they were all found in the creek bed in Groveland, Livingston County, NY and a geologist friend said she believes the rock on the creek bed appears to be shale slate. I'm at work without a ruler right now, so I had to use the Mary Anning post card I have on my desk for scale haha. It is 6 inches (15.24 cm). I promise I'll get a ruler soon if I'm gonna keep asking for help!! Thanks in advance!!

Hi all. Found my first Florida creek meg!! It's broken but holy cow, the feeling of when I saw it in the screen!!! I'll gladly take it. Went on a fossil hunting tour this past weekend on a creek near the Peace River. Found some awesome other stuff as well. Water was so low!!!

Hi all, i found this while while looking for teeth in a creek in South Carolina, and the pattern caught my attention. Any idea what it might be or what might have made that scale-like pattern? The rock is 1 inch in length and about 0.3 inches wide. thanks in advance!

Hey everybody! Welcome to my Mazon Creek thread, where I’ll be posting pictures of various Mazon Creek finds! I’ve been hunting there for upwards of 10 years, so I have piles of uncracked nodules just waiting to be opened. So as they open, they’ll find their way here! I spent most of Friday at a local creek with expert friend.... We found some nice things. I got an intact goblin shark tooth about 2.4" long, and some fossil turtle bone. My kids had a great time sieving in the stream. Ammonite impressions in the mud are common; I wanted to to share the largest one I saw, as well as my largest goblin shark find. We saw some good wildlife; the kids caught a garter snake. My daughter saw a mysterious creature that jumped into the water. I took some pictures of the footprints.... a mink maybe? What do you think?

I found this bone in a ditch with no teeth marks or chewing on it. Obviously I believe this is modern as it still smelled of death and decay (I ran it under soap and boiling water and then rubbed it with sanitizer. and even then I don't touch it without a napkin) I was curious if my hypothesis was correct about this being a deer femur bone? I wasn't sure because I'm no bone expert but maybe someone here knows, all I know is we have deer, bears, cougars and possibly elk or moose but that would be rare. This was found in a creek by Murdock beach Washington State on the Olympic Peninsula (temperate rain forest conditions near large ocean.)
