From the album: Sonickmonx's South Carolina Finds
Found this Croc tooth out of the Chandler Bridge formation in a retention pond. It's the only Croc tooth I've found somewhere and it's one of my favorite finds for sure.- 2 comments

Quick recount of my best hunt to date in the Summerville area. There is a pond that has produced some of the best fossils in my collection originating from, likely, the Chandler Bridge Formation, but it is an abnormal lense for sure. The pond banks were re-graded in this past October, so I had a hunch the first big rain would cause a lot of new erosion and expose some really good stuff. Boy was I right! In the first washout I checked (my personal favorite one) I found a nice vert, a stunning atlas (my first) and a gorgeous croc tooth (also my first). With these in tow I walked back to my truck to drop them off for safe keeping. After safely getting them to the truck, I went back and hopped in another washout, immediately coming across an intact ray plate. At this point I couldn't believe my luck! I decided to quickly run this back to the truck as well. As I was on my way to the truck I passed another collector headed towards the pond. After dropping the plate off at the truck, I quickly got back to the pond. The other collector was in the washout I had just grabbed the plate out of not even 2 minutes earlier. I then jumped into the next washout down and just had to laugh when I saw ANOTHER ray plate staring back at me. \ I took it back to the truck too and left for the day. I was in shock. My friends always tell me I'm lucky and hunts like this certainly don't hurt their case. Hopefully someday I'll have an even better hunt, but I certainly can't complain about this one! Hope ya'll enjoyed the quick story and the awesome fossils!

Trying to ID a couple gifts just recently given to me from a digger buddy in Texas... First is a croc/gator tooth. Second is a vertebra. Third looks to be a small scute. Fourth is supposedly portions of a bat jaw. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Been months since I’ve been out, so I went surface hunting. I can’t wait until it is warmer so I can sift for the nice small teeth.

I needed something to satisfy my itch since I still cannot get out. So i had purchased a box of matrix from Lee Creek. I spent the weekend seperating the matrix into 4 different sizes. I was excited to try my smaller double decker sifter and it worked perfect. I also used that over a window screen. I found a ton of new items that I do not have in my collection. Including my first croc tooth. It is super tiny but it is my first. These are my finds after my first run through. I think I am going to have to get some type of magnifying glass for the smaller stuff. Any feedback on incorrect ID's is much appreciated. Enjoy the pics. Found this tooth yesterday in a grouping of various Kem Kem fossils and dinosaur teeth. It has distinct small serration denticles on what I would call the posterior/distal carina. And it has a distinct anterior carinae with even smaller, but not as well defined denticles. Crenulations may be a more suitable word for the anterior/mesial one’s. It is labial-lingually compressed. And it has a lozenge shaped cross section. Any ideas on what it may be from? Croc? Dinosaur? Fish?

Beautiful day on the river today, warm temperatures and a good low tide! I took my family out today and let them have at it, all I did was walk along with them and try to point out teeth to my youngest step-daughter who was with us for this Thanksgiving weekend...and they did quite well! My wife found a nice Meg that she took delight in ribbing me over since we had already walked past where she found it. We even ran into @SailingAlongToo today as he was out on the river in his boat, that boat certainly gets a workout every weekend! Their total haul My step-daughter's haul Another step-daughter's haul My wife's finds Better picture of the Meg The Meg again...she was ecstatic to find this on her own Croc tooth found by my step-daughter, her first out of the Miocene. My step-daughter with her prized find, I didn't point this out to her, she found it all on her own. She has plans of putting this in a case and hanging it in her room.

Took a quick trip to the Potomac today and grabbed something that I thought was a croc tooth when I saw it, after grabbing it I didn't quite know what it was. All my other croc teeth from the Potomac are round, this is oval. The lack of an actual point makes me wonder if it is just a bone. Any ideas? Upper left corner.
