I found this in Southgate Michigan that's where I live I have an alley in the back and I found quite a few interesting pieces I believe one is a nest with the ones living things still inside of it and then the other is an egg which I believe the one swimming thing is still inside of it

Hoping for a little assistance. I acquired this little vertebra a while back. Its nice color and detail caught my eye. It was being identified as a dinosaur caudal (I see a lot of similar ones being pushed as “raptor”) but I thought it looked to be a champsosaur caudal. The origin was said to be Hell Creek Fm. in Montana and that is about all I know. I’d like to get a second opinion on this if possible. Pardon the pics. I don’t have the best setup at the moment.

Fossils labeled as from East Bluff, California but not so sure if that’s correct
Guest posted a topic in Fossil ID
These were sold to me stating they came from the East Bluff area in Newport Beach, California. But research into fossils from that area comes up with late Pliocene material that doesn’t look anything like these. The serrated tooth is especially confusing. Any ideas?- 5 replies

Hi everyone! I have my eye on an interesting set of associated verts from the Cloverly formation of Carbon County, Montana. I have zero experience with this formation and was hoping for a second opinion on whether or not they are dino and if they can be IDed. The seller is leaning towards Tenontosaurus. What do you all think? (I know that the last couple verts have some resto, the seller was open about that). Any insight is appreciated as always!

Hello! Here I am again, with 3 unknown vertebrae… I can’t provide provenance, so I don’t expect to get the exact species. But can anyone tell me from what kind of animal they were? Are they dinosaur or something else? Thank you for your time :)

Found this very tooth-like rock. Can anyone tell me something clever about it? The shape seems almost to perfect for it to only be a rock. Also it appears to have a hint of some layers on it (enamel maybe?) - which also would suggest that it could be a type of fossil. I'm no expert, so please help me to identify what I have. Found in some random gravel in Denmark.

I found this strange tooth in Lance formation matrix. It is very small so I apologize for my image quality. Not sure what to make of it maybe some herbivore dinosaur tooth or lizard tooth? It’s .1875 inches. Interested to see what other people think. Thanks

Hi all. This bone fragment is advertised as a dinosaurian rib fragment. It is over 4 inches long. Is it possible to say something more about this fragment? Is it indeed dinosaurian, and if so, did it belong to a theropod or a sauropod? And is it a rib? I did a quick online search but could not find a matching cross section myself. Thanks!

Hi all, I thought I see if there were any hunches on these three bones I found in Lance formation sediment from Weston, WY. I'm posting them together because they all were pieces I thought at one point were frill/osteoderm/surface bone because of a veiny side, but then the opposite side has cavities that seem like skull or something. Please let me know if they resemble anything to you. Thanks! 1 2 3

Hello, I wanted to ask about this partial claw I came across, identified as a Nuthetes destructor dromeosaurid hand claw found in Hastings, Wealden of Sussex of the UK. It measures 0.5 cm. From what I can tell this species has only been described from teeth and partial jaw fragments, and @Troodon told me that Nuthetes being a tooth taxon is not even described from this locality. He also wasn't confident that it is even dinosaur/theropod. What could it be?

Hello all I bought a bone these days. The seller didn't know anything about it. But I think it's interesting and cheap. I think it's like an uncertain mammalian bone. What do you think about it? Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated.

Yesterday I set out to a site that exposed the Gettysburg formation up in Maryland in hopes of finding some Triassic footprints. What I came back with was mostly some trace fossils and burrows, but some of these looked suspiciously like tracks, so I wanted to post them on ID and see if someone with a little more experience could help me out. I’ll also probably send some emails out in hopes of getting someone who’s more experienced with the Triassic formations around PA and Maryland. Anyways here are the potential trackways I really hope to get some light shed on these and learn more about this era around Maryland because I’ve been doing a lot of research on these. Some really cool burrows: I collected the Triassic burrows in case my potential footprints turned out to be duds so that I wouldn’t come back completely empty handed. These are really cool I’ve come to believe that the small holes are where bugs or Beatles must have lived inside them. Someone with a little more expertise could chime in though. Now here’s the potential trackways. As always, these are some of my favorite fossils to collect so I REALLY want them to be trackways. But if they turn out not to be, then I will keep searching. I’ve got more leads further away in Pennsylvania but it’d just be nice to find them in Maryland where they’re so few and far between to find up there. These look fairly suspicious so I’ll see what y’all think of these. This one looks like a small theropod print, the way the traces are done. potential trackway circled. This one is also suspicious. There’s no discernible trackway to spot here, as this could just be geologic and be an inclusion in the rock, however, it could very well also be a trackway. Whether these are dinosaur trackways, or just fossil blobs that are getting me excited, I can’t help but be in awe at this site. Anytime I go to any potential trackway site, I just imagine all the small dinosaurs, early mammals, and large amphibians dominating this once river plain, leaving behind their footprints in the mud to be found. Were they running towards some unsuspecting prey item? Were they running away from something? Or just having a leisurely stroll during this time period? I don’t know what fascinates me so much about trackways but I always feel they have a story to tell about them.

I went on a recent fossil hunt in North Carolina looking for the cow branch formation. I found some fossils. It was a very quick stop, about an hour before I had to leave. I found what I believe is to be a footprint it reminds me of a tremnospondyl but it’s from the cow branch I believe. I also found some shells there, plant material, and pieces of what looked to be good footprint material but I wasn’t there long enough to fully examine. So here’s the finds from yesterday: Total haul: footprint in question: outline of footprint: What species was this footprint from? It’s late Triassic and I’m pretty happy to be finding footprints again these might be my new favorite fossils.

Hello, saw a few interesting things for sale. The first one is claimed to be a partial Tyrannosaurus rex skull from hell creek formation, locality is in image measures 12 cm-10.5 other 2 are both claimed to be partial limb fragments though I have doubts it can be narrowed to be from Tyrannosaurus rex. One is 2 and a half inch the other is 2 inch. I know that they say hell creek formation Wyoming which is weird. However I think some of hell creek form is in Wyoming? I would appreciate any help in verifying whether the items are identified correctly and if not what they should be described as.

Hi everyone! I acquired this Vertebra a few months ago. It's from the Hell Creek of Powder River County, Montana. The seller listed it as Theropod and I was hoping to make sure. It measures 3 cm long, 2.6 cm tall, and 3.2/3.5 cm wide on the centrums. So what do you all think? Any feedback is greatly appreciated as always!

My cousin found some possible fossils while visiting a friend's ranch in Utah years ago (he has no idea where they were). While he was there him and his friend found "dinosaur bones" that were embedded in rock (he said he broke one in half trying to get it free). Since he heard I was getting into fossils he gave me a couple of the smaller ones. I don't think they're bones but wondered if they might be some sort of trace fossil (burrow?). Let me know what you think.
