Went hunting yesterday. We have had a lot of rain and the Peace River is 3-4 feet too deep but it has been dropping and just due to withdrawal symptoms, we decided to try one of the streams that might have some low spots. The lighter colors tell you these are from a stream. That is a dugong rib segment upper right, mostly small shark teeth, a couple of Meg Frags, chunk of Mammoth plate, puffer fish mouth plate bottom. A Beluga periotic made my day. They are far rarer than Megalodons.. Only my 2nd in 15 years... the 1st was October 2021. There are other notable finds: A very small dolphin tooth (I will try to identify it, just based on size likely a small river dolphin). A Sawfish rostral tooth and then what I am trying to get identified.. a 31 millemeter enamel fragment with a unique tip. Additional Photos... This last photo of what I thought was the root end seems to have a chewing surface like enamel, so the "tip" above might be the end of a tooth root ??? This may be obvious and I'll but I have seen LOTS of broken enamel over 15 years. For example, that very thin broken enamel is similar to broken horse teeth, but I have not seen a tip that looks like this one on any Bone Valley tooth. All suggestions greatly appreciated. Jack

From the album: Sonickmonx's South Carolina Finds
Possibly my favorite fossil I've collected so far. It is still in the original matrix and was a bucket list find.-

The Peace River is coming down, but not fast enough. I went out thinking about deep water, possible rain, and hopes to find some really nice small Shark teeth, Tigers, Lemons, Hemis, etc,,, I found all of those, but other goodies also... Here is a "group" photo.. and some of the goodies... The 65 mm Meg came out of the clay like this.. 15 minutes later, we had a color change Silver and yellow to Steal Grey and a light brown then a 53 mm tip of a Ray barb A couple of what I think are dolphin teeth,, here is a photo of the smaller one... I will be trying to ID this tooth. Is this just a juvenile version of Goniodelphis hudsoni ?? This fish vert is only 23 mm, and I do not have high hopes of Identification but sometimes TFF magic just happens... Finally , a Mako... Is this hastalis? Great day, lots of finds,,, some interesting... Comments Welcome Jack

I needed something to satisfy my itch since I still cannot get out. So i had purchased a box of matrix from Lee Creek. I spent the weekend seperating the matrix into 4 different sizes. I was excited to try my smaller double decker sifter and it worked perfect. I also used that over a window screen. I found a ton of new items that I do not have in my collection. Including my first croc tooth. It is super tiny but it is my first. These are my finds after my first run through. I think I am going to have to get some type of magnifying glass for the smaller stuff. Any feedback on incorrect ID's is much appreciated. Enjoy the pics. Last week I was on holiday in the Netherlands/Belgium for a short time and I had the chance to visit the area of Antwerp to find some shark teeth. Too bad the weather wasnt good (I think it rained the entire day). Nevertheless I found some teeth and I have to say that I am kinda satisfed with the result! I almost sieved the whole day so my body still hurts a bit The material I searched in comes from the Miocene, Pliocene and was washed up from the extension of Churchill dock in Antwerp. Here are two "in-situ" pictures: A nice tooth on the sifter: Pictures of the nicest teeth: A nice dolphin tooth with enamel (4 cm long): A dolphin ear bone: (a little bit more than 2 cm long) An Isurus retroflexus tooth (3 cm long): And an 4.2 cm long Cosmopolitodus hastalis: (I am not sure if I determined this one right ...) I think I will post some more detailed pictures of other teeth in the next days! Thanks for watching

My friend found a couple of interesting bone pieces while digging at Ernst Quarries last weekend. In the same hole, she found what may be two small cetacean periotic bones, as well as a small dolphin tooth. All three are included included in associated images. She wasn't digging a particularly large hole, so I can't help but wonder if they are all from the same animal. While there may be no way to tell, the possibility is intriguing to this newbie's mind. Of course, I may even be wrong about my ID of the bones. Any input regarding the donor species, etc., is greatly appreciated. Cheers.

I found this tooth this week not far from Flag Pond Nature park. It is longer and has a curve so it doesn’t look like the dolphin teeth I have found before. Is it an aberration or something different?

Once again I'm happy to say I am able to spend a few months hunting for fossils in Florida instead of hunting for my hat and gloves in Minnesota. I recently had the opportunity to go on a Peace River dig with Fred Mazza of Paleo Discoveries. After about fifteen years of collecting on the beaches and in the river I managed to find my first dolphin tooth. Shoveling in the river beats the heck out of shoveling snow.
