Hi TFF, I've posted about this Pliocene baleen whale jaw section from Florida before, and its the gift that keeps on giving! Within the fossil there are 2 significant crystalized structures which I would love further clarity on. Are they the remanence of soft bodied organisms burrowing in the bone? Or are these structures mineral deposits similar to those found in shelled cephalopod fossils when water gets into the specimen? Or something completely different? The first specimen is 1.7/2cm in length. I would love to know your thoughts

Sources: Link Anastasia Formation LOCATION Link (Search Port St. John) Geology Map Hello everyone. Today is one of my first field collected fossils that I've posted to the forum! I'm quite positive of the species of the specimen but, you can never be too sure so, I invite you to give your best conjecture on what the ID of this fossil is. It was collected in a cluster of 6 different forms in the Caneveral National Seashore. The two Epochs of the 6 forms are the Pleistocene & Holocene epochs. Thank you in advance.

Hello! I found this on the beach a few years ago. I wasn't sure if it was a fossil, a tool, or maybe a piece of something from a ship. Thank you for any help you may be able to give.
