So not too much was found this past weekend, but those trips happen every so often! Still found a couple cool things - almost compete Hubbell Meg, a gorgeous large hammerhead tooth, a pathological tiger shark tooth that’s in beautiful condition, and a thresher shark tooth. Also found a couple Holemsina osteoderms, and a small 3-toed horse tooth. Hopefully this weekend results in better finds!

Even though my muscles were sore and my tendons/ligaments were overused from hunting on Saturday, I had committed to a Peace River hunt yesterday. and a commitment , after all, is a commitment. So there I was at 7:30 am, launching from a Peace River Bridge with a couple of friends. It was bound to be a difficult day. The best location in the general area of where we chose to hunt was covered with softball (and up) sized boulders and had been heavily hunted by people who knew what they were doing. The boulders are the advantage. As we get storms and hurricanes, it moves gravel and fossils downstream. The fossils/gravel falls between the cracks in the boulders. All you have to do is remove the boulders. You won't find much, but usually for me , it is worth the effort, which turned out to be a little over 5 hours of shoveling boulders... So, the "everything" photo.... Pretty sparse, Up in the left corner rocks or overly worn osteoderms, In the right upper corner, marine mammal (2 broken whale bulla, 2 broken dolphin bulla, a frag of dolphin jaw bone, and an overly worn dolphin periotic) all a pleasure to find..I will be able to ID that periotic) Do the small whale bulla imply small whales ? maybe 10 feet at birth.... Right lower corner , an old glass fuse... Does anyone still make them? Lower left a couple of horse teeth, and a process from a dugong vert... These will go into a zip lock and donated at my next fossil club meeting with most of the small teeth. For the sharp eyed ones who spotted it in the "everything photo", my find of the day... Took a long time to get to : What am I trying to Identify .... A bone and possibly from the 1st photo, a toe bone or hoof core.... Size approximately L 30 x H 25 x W 20 mm. Thanks to all. Jack

Locality is primarily Caloosahatchee but some Bermont is present.

I found both of these during the last year between Fort Pierce and Jensen Beach. I was hoping someone could help narrow down what I’ve got here. I think the small one might be a phalanx or caudal vertebrae from a dog. I think the broken one may be about 3/4 of a metapoidal from a tapir. It would be nice to get some feedback from someone about what you think.

I recently found my first unerupted beaver (Holmes capybara) incisor chunk: I hadn’t previously held one. Now that I have, there a couple unidentified things I’ve been saving that may possibly be beaver tooth. This first one - could it be the top of an incisor? Or am I way off and it actually belongs to a tapir? It doesn’t photograph well so I added lots of pics and a video - it matches up with my capybara chuck pretty closely. My buddy found this tooth diving in venice beach. I’m trying to help him out to figure out what it is. I was thinking either dire wolf or jaguar but the enamel part of the tooth looks very long and possibly worn down. And I’m just confused. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I went out hunting today, needed the exercise. Predicted afternoon showers, but warm and sunny all morning. I was doing pretty well, constant finds of Bull, Dusky, Tiger shark teeth, mixed with Osteoderms from Alligator, Armadillo, Glyptodon. About 1:30, getting ready to kayak back to my truck in order to beat the rains, I saw something that I did not recognize in the sieve. xx I turned it over and over trying to figure out what it might be... When I saw this next edge, I thought I knew... But maybe I was incorrect. What do you think it is... But I am running out of time.... I spotted a VERY small tooth, complete with roots.... I have a guess but I see what others think. Then a 1st timer for me... and one of my favorites, a Cetacean ear bone and a big one at that... These were all in the same sieve... along with a couple of shark teeth and a large Gar Fish scale... Really fortunate... I left after this sieve because I knew the next sieve likely would not be as good, and if I kept digging, I would get drenched....

Hey everyone! I found an exciting array of unusual things in the river today. At first I thought I had a baby sloth tooth, but after some research I believe it’s a giant beaver incisor! @Meganeura you posted something that HAS to be the same as what I found. But can anyone explain why mine has a hole down the center? The shape looks like a sloth tooth to me but the enamel says it’s not sloth, right? Looking for ID confirmation as well as explanation for this hole thank you! …And disregard the sand and dirt still in my nails haha it was a fun day! (Let me know if measurements or better/more pics are needed)

I started collecting shells at the beach..then noticed fossils. I recently found this.Is it even a fossil? I thought it strange because similar markings on each side. It is about the size of a quarter. Thanks for any help.

I acquired this as part of a fossil collection at an estate sale in Florida. Most of the fossils are from Florida. This was in a box labeled China, Rhinoceros Tooth which it obviously isn’t. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Okay so found this very strange shark vert today. I think it’s shark, anyway. Doesn’t match any bony fish I know. But also doesn’t match any shark. Measures about an inch across and an inch long. @hemipristis @Al Dente @MarcoSr
