    Mystery Huge Anomalocaris Appendange?

Hi, I have this mystery piece of what appears to be anomalocarid appendage of sorts. The problem is I did not receive any information with it and it came out of an old collection from Maine, Usa. I'm not to sure what else it could be from the appearance but I am also very uncertain of the exact species. The piece of a very laminated sparkly shale If I had to guess it could've came from either Burgess Shale, Utah, or Nevada but I not sure what locality it could be from so if anyone if familiar with these shales and can tell from the preservation it would be a huge help, thank you and looking forward to seeing peoples opinions, and if anyone can recommend an expert to show that would also help.

    Weird black thing

I saw this little black thing on a crinoid plate, and I haven't been able to figure it out. It looks almost like a trilobite cheek or a cephalon or maybe even a crinoid calyx shard. Anyone know what it is?

    Another Judith river matrix tooth.

I was looking through my biggest piece of matrix from Judith river (it’s filled with shells unlike the other ones) and I noticed this poking out. It was very easy to remove. This doesn’t look like the two other shed teeth I have is this one unworn with a root attached? And is it also a ceretopsian? .4 inches long.
  4. Diplocaulus

    Unidentified Trilo

Does anybody know what species this trilobite is?
  5. DenverEdge

    Judith River Hadrosaur tooth?

I’m working on another piece of Judith River matrix that I got at the Denver show this year. I think this could be considered one of the better pieces it’s one of the larger ones for sure. It’s shy of a half inch long somewhere between 0.3 and 0.4 inches, but there is more to expose at the base.
  6. Good evening, First of all, I apologise that there’s no ruler in this particular photo. My phone battery died as I was taking the photos and then it got dark, so I couldn’t get a good photo. I can update tomorrow if there’s anything here. I went to the Herkimer mine in NY this week and I found this rock. It interested me because of the lines and I didn’t see anything else like it in the 5 hours (!!) we were mining. Do you have any idea what the lines are, please? Thank you. L.

    McFaddin Beach, TX finds

New fossil hunter here! Recently went hunting at McFaddin Beach, TX with some out-of-state friends. McFaddin is a popular fossil hunting spot because it is not restricted and many projectile points have been found there. We found lots of interesting pieces (my friend found two herbivore teeth!) but, I'm not sure if any of my finds are good. The first pictures (with the larger pieces are what I'm most interested in. We also found lots of dark cylindrical pieces that I think could be coral (or antler fragments which are common on the beach). Finally, I found a fragment of what might be a projectile point (I know it's not a fossil, but maybe someone can help?). Any IDs would be appreciated. Also keep in mind there is a crumbled asphalt road that runs along the beach, I tried to avoid those pieces, but some may have slipped through. Also, the fish bone at the top of one of the pictures is not fossilized, just a cool find.
  8. I would like to share some of finds of the last six months. I live and fossil hunt in the foothills in western colorado springs. The is a 375 acre tract that lies between me and "Red Rocks Canyon Open Space State Park. They have sold off the tract to build 170 town homes. It is heart wrenching to say the least, as they began excavating yesterday . I'd like to share some my finds from the last six months in hope of identifying as many as possible. I'm new to this but I finally realize the importance of "cented graph paper"

    Fossil ID

Hi. I have always loved to look for fossils since I was a kid. I was looking for native fish species in a creek here in central Indiana when I came along this rock. It looks like it could be an insect fossil. Does anyone agree or disagree? Thanks

    Is This Petrified Wood?

I found this mystery rock on a lake shore in central Minnesota. Is it petrified wood? How does one tell whether or not a rock is petrified wood? Thanks for the help!
  11. Hey pals! I came across this fossil at an antique store and was wondering if it is real or fake. And if it is in fact, real, what species does this fossil belong to? would be great if someone could help me out, thank you!!
  12. Hi everyone, my family has a new found interest in fossils. Today was our first adventure toSuzie Gilmore Beach Newcastle. We have found some interesting fossils. Would love any help with scientific names, rock formation, fossil type, dates etc to fuel my kids knowledge. If I've taken a photo of nothing substantial please forgive and educate us! Thanks

Does it looks like an fossil?

Can someone help me to identify weather it is a fossil or not and if not then what it is because I am literally stumped.

    Hello!

Hello! I’m a 19 year old from Alberta Canada that has been interested in fossil hunting. My love and interest for prehistoric animals began in childhood, but was reignited when I randomly decided to crack open a rock near the summit of a mountain a few years ago, only to find what I believe to be several small aquatic plant fossils and possibility shell fragments. Since then, my fascination with fossils has only grown, and I commit more and more time to searching for fossils during hikes and other outings. I have collected several things I believe to be fossils from multiple sites in Alberta, but I have no clue if I have fossils or just oddly shaped rocks. I just finished cleaning/ scratching away most of the Lichen on the most recent rocks I brought home, and will post pictures in the ID section tomorrow once they are dry. I finally decided to make an effort to find out what I really have, and am anxious to see what people have to say! I’m worried that that “fossils” I think I may have found will end up just being extra weight I carried on long hikes, but regardless, I am determined to find some fossils, and am currently planning my first excursion dedicated to finding fossils.

    Polypterid/Bawitius jaw from Kem Kem?

Hi, I have a friend in Morocco who is helping me get my hands on some Bawitius or other Polypterid material from the Kem Kem Beds as it is one of my top bucket list fossils. Today he send me this picture what he might believe could be a match for my search. Now I am not a fish expert and there isn't a whole lot of Bawitius material available to compare it to. So I was hoping of some of the Kem Kem or fish experts might chime in and shed some light on the piece. @LordTrilobite @gigantoraptor @Haravex VID-20210902-WA0006.mp4

    Interesting Florissant Fossil

Hello, Another Unidentified Florissant Object, some sort of attachment on a monocot/reed/stick. Maybe the attachment is an insect egg, or a larva, or just a seed of some kind. You can definitely see they are connected. Maybe you guys can help figure this one out, if it's unidentifiable I totally understand. @piranha @Top Trilo @Rockwood @Tetradium @LabRatKing, y'all have helped me in previous topics. Thanks!

    Young fossil hunter

Hi, I have a 6 year old son who is obsessed with finding stuff on the beach. (In Essex) The other day he brought something over to me and I’m convinced he found a fossil of some kind. He now wants to know what it might be, and so do I! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

More fossils I found 2 days ago

Hi, If anyone knows if these are anything I appreciate it. We went to Ruck's pit FL for calcite crystal clams and dug these too... I hope the pics are good, I forgot use a different color background.

    Northwest La Possible fossils

okay, so here's a total shot in the dark. but can these possibly be fossils? I found them in the dirt while I was digging my plant beds totally piqued my interest and I've been collecting every since. Any information would be appreciated thank you. p. s. I have a few more but didn't wanna overwhelm with pictures.
  21. Found this in a customer's rock garden. They had a couple truckloads of the most random assortment of rock sizes, shapes and colors I've ever seen. I apologize that there are no clues based on it's location. All the rocks in my 'hello from Oklahoma' intro were all found in the same place. They rock itself is approx. 2¼ in. long x 1¾ in. wide x ½ in. tall. The marking isn't an indentation but the 'medium' -for lack of a better description- seems organic. If it is human-made, I'd be curious to know how. The markings are so precise as to be human-made but also seem completely natural. I've not attempted to clean it, except for a damp thumb rub or 2, but it doesn't seem like it would budge. I've shown it to probably a dozen people (none of whom were rock or fossil enthusiasts) and no one has a clue. I can't wait to see what y'all think. If I'm lucky enough for this to catch someone's eye. Please let me know if I can answer anything or post other picture etc. I can't thank you enough in advance. Have a great day.

    Vertebral Column

I am going through some items that have been in my family for a few years--and I have no idea what this partial vertebral column is from. I also don't know where it was found. Any ideas on this? It's 34 cm in length and 10 cm across. Each vertebrae is approximately 7.6 x 10 cm Thanks!
  24. Hi guys! Found this at Mona Vale (Sydney, Australia), early triassic, Narrabeen group. Fossil ID please.
