Dug into this park on Tuesday for a few hours. I really have no experience with Mesozoic strata, aside from Coon Creek of Tennesse. The water was inconsistent in it's depth due to a local beaver dam causing higher than normal water levels. Material here consists of unconsolidated clays, gravel and sand. Here are two large bivalves I recovered from the upper beds containing clams. I believe these are Exogyra costata which are common at this location. This tooth belongs to Scapanorhynchus texanus in which the teeth are referred to as belonging to goblin sharks. This is untrue, as this taxa is distantly related to modern goblins but I believe they are within the same family? This is a pair of small bivalves, species possibly being miniscule Gryphaeostrea vomer? A single Agerostrea mesenterica. Finally pictured below, an unknown, based on corrected advice it is a worn Pycnodonte. This trip was long, but the report ended up being brief due to the difficulty I had getting into the productive zones at this site. In which happened to be straight down, through the toughest clay I have ever seen. I did however end up meeting one of the park volunteers named Doug, who was more than helpful, he frequents the area and is very friendly.

Finally got a good picture of another find from our Mineral Wells Fossil Park outing. Looked at other pictures of Petalodus shark teeth, and it has similar features. It looks like a tooth to me....but I don't know.

Hello everybody! This summer I had the pleasure to collect fossils in a few famous Ohio localites. I want to start with the first that I visited, the Trammel Fossil Park in Sharonville (Butler and Hamilton counties). The park is a 10 acres fossil-rich hillside and woodland area, that was donated to the city by a local developer. Ordovician rokcs crop out and they are very productive! Collecting is free for everybody, tools can be used, but you are not supposed to remove large boulders of rock. The space in front is equipped with tables, benches and boards that explain the geology and faunal assemblage of the site. Here, 4 formations are exposed: Fairview, Miamitown, Corryville and Bellevue, that date back to the Late Ordovician. The most abundant fossils are a few different species of brachiopods and bryozoans. Less likey you can find crinoids, gastropods and, for the Miamitown section, even Edrioasteroids. I'll let the boards explain more specifically. Let's talk about the actual collecting! Picking by hand is the preferable method, for bryozoans lie on the ground or they can be easily freed from the rock. Brachiopods are usually broken and less easily removable, but you can find some remarkable specimen too! Overall, I was more than satisfied! I filled a small box with the best preserved fossils and had a nice chat with a fellow fossil hunter! Trammel is definetely a family-friendly location, easily accessible and risk-free. Findings and fun are guaranteed!! I'll add the pics of my finds later on in another post, wait for it

Hello Everyone. I am reaching out to the forum in hopes that someone here can give me some information about the Edelman fossil Park in New Jersey. Have any members ever been there? Is it worth visiting? How does one make arrangements for a visit there. I have visited the website but when I try to click on links it doesn't work for me. Any help would be highly appreciated. @frankh8147 @Trevor @The Jersey Devil @njfossilhunter @Carl

Short 3 hr NSR hunt between the 35 ft rise and the current 8 ft rise. I had very little area to hunt but still had a great day. The Tylosaur jaw section made my day. My new 4x4 saved me once again when I slid down the ditch while parking.
