Found this lot while out hiking and picked up a pocket full of rocks.
edteach posted a topic in Fossil ID
I was hiking with the wife looking for an old abandoned Train tunnel built in 1899. [found it.] I saw some rocks that caught my eye and picked them up. One looks like Ar Quartz and one looks like it could be crinoid's but not sure. Any help appreciated. -

My first one of these found on Myrtle Beach. I think I've narrowed it down to a claw of some sort, but doesn't seem to match online photos I can find of turtle, croc and gator claws. Or it may be so eroded I just can't recognize the similarities. It's length would fit on a quarter. Ideas? Thanks! Paula

Last year I discovered a baleen whale fossil along the cliffs of Calvert cliffs park. Tomorrow it will be getting excavated. However I broke my leg just before Christmas so I am looking to see if anyone can video the excavation for me as I cannot attend. I’m hoping to get a video and some good pictures I can share on here. Please feel free to message me as I’m anxious to see the excavation process. I just wish I had better luck so I could attend and assist in the excavation of what I found. Anyone willing to help is super appreciated !!! Thank you

Smithsonian Natural History Museum: Fossil Hall, Dinosauria
Stegonick23 posted a topic in A Trip to the Museum
Hello everyone! Since I live close to the Smithsonian Natural History Museum, D.C., I thought I would go through and give you all a tour of the new fossil hall specimens. Due to the size of the museum, I decided to only focus on the dinosaur fossils. If anyone would like, in the future I can go back to get some pictures of the mammalian and invertebrate fossils as well. Also, due to file size, this will take a little while to add everything in (additional comments) despite the fact I have substantially reduced/cropped all the images. Thanks, hope you enjoy! ....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... Was recently in Costa Rica and found these on the beach. Have found many black sharks teeth in the Carolinas but wasn’t sure if these were also? Any info would be greatly appreciated. TIA

Hey all! I am an avid shark tooth hunter located in the Carolinas. I stumbled across these teeth and have no idea what they are. I was wondering if anyone could help me identify them or steer me in the direction of somebody who can. Thank you for your time and help!

Super heavy and deep red showing. Just cleaned from dirt, found as-is on 1400 meters above sea level in the anti mount lebanon range (mid to northern part). a local stone/sand producers operated a cut on a 90 meters hill to extract construction stones or sand, exposed fossils among the left debris. I am just wondering if this can be amber baring? especially on those outer part showing. I did not attempt or tried to know. But the outer layer can easily be scratched

Found on 1400 meters above sea level in the anti mount lebanon range (mid to northern part). Those mountains are the natural separation between syria and lebanon. a local cut on a 90 meters hill to extract construction stones exposed few fossils among the debris.

Hi, my wife found this on a recent trip to Myrtle Beach, SC. Hoping someone could identify it. It’s basically a round rock with the impression on top. Thanks guys. I also found this cork screw shaped object. Let me know if you different angles.

Was on holiday in costa rica 6 months ago and found this on the beach at the end of a small estuary. I guess it washed down to the beach, I'm pretty sure it's no aquatic animal tooth and I'm not even sure if it's a tooth. My only guess was crocodile but not even sure on that theres no look of enamel. Possibly a bit of bone that's been weathered into this shape. Any ideas? Struggling to add pictures because of the size limits The piece is around 2.5 inches long 1.25 inches wide
