Found on dirt road in upturned mud in woods of Rhinelander Wisconsin. Looks to have rooted flat upper and lower teeth. I believe if it is a fossil it is glacial washout from somewhere else. Sorry the image quality is terrible and I know it decreases identification chances but it's all I have to send. If it is a fossil skull what might it be?

Hi friends, I have several of these fossils. I think they look like some sort of worm fossil but can't find anything on the internet similar for comparison. I really don't think it is trilobite tracks because it is deeper. Sorry, I could only get 2 of my pictures to upload. Thanks so much, I would really appreciate any info.

No clue as to what this is. I would have discarded it except for the tiny smooth and shiny area in the crevice. Found on Myrtle Beach. Ideas?

Hi all, Looking for some help to identify if this is a fossil or not. It was found in Freshwater East beach in Wales, UK (SA71) over the New Year. It's quite heavy (103g) and stood out as It didn't match any other of the red limestone or grey pebbles around it. Dimensions are 7.5cm long and 4.5cm wide. It is slighted flattened on its side so would measure 4cm. Thought it was a fossiled bone as the ends appear rounded and porous whilst the sides are smooth. Appreciate it might be fossiled wood or mineral too. Any ideas would be greatly welcomed. Many thanks S

Ok, found this one tonight walking Myrtle Beach. It kind of reminds me of a walnut shell. The center seems to be some kind of seam. I'm including a photo of the opposite side but it's not as great as I hoped. Hard to show detail, but it's concave as if it held something. Ideas? -- Paula

Presentation of a Miocene outcrop in Southern France
Pixpaleosky posted a topic in Fossil Hunting Trips
To the west of Marseille is the Nerthe Massif, which unveils a rock from the Jurassic and the lower Cretaceous, with a transgressive Miocene cover that is accessible by the sea. Further north, there are many ponds, with some small exposures ranging from Burdigalian to Helvetian. The Miocene layers deliver fossils of corals, shells, sea urchins and teeth. They are not very abundant, but sometimes of good quality. These reveal life in this region 14 million years ago. The interest also lies in the range of fossils found there and in the fauna of sharks, rays and other fish that have left behind their fossilized teeth. These range from 2 millimeters to several centimeters and belonged to great sharks such as tiger shark or bull shark.- 40 replies

I found this rock at an estate sale and am curious if it is a fossil. It is certainly the most unusual rock that I have found. I would appreciate any help someone wants to offer. Thank you! Dean

Need help identifying clam shell maybe? SOLVED: LIKELY EXOGYRA OYSTER
PSchleis posted a topic in Fossil ID
Ok, another new one for me today. I picked up one at Myrtle Beach, SC because it looked interesting, then found a second almost identical one. Now I'm thinking it's something worth knowing! It's dense and heavy. The top has a gray metallic sheen to it. Both of them have a middle circular area that looks rusty, and as if something had been attached there and pulled off. The back looks completely different. Where the front is smooth and shiny, the backside is rather dull. It is comprised of layers, and they layers come together in a knobby area at one end (again, as if perhaps it had been connected to something.) Overall, it really looks like a kind of clam shell to me, but the metallic sheen, rusty circle and layered interior don't look like any clam I've ever seen. Thank you again! - Paula- 21 replies

Hello everyone, here is another piece I could use someone's expertise on also found in Missouri, the cigarette is for perspective to give an idea of its size,it measures, 4 1/2"x 2"x 2 3/4",(LxWxH) ,it's color ranges from shades of gray to off white, and it has what I would call ridges or bands,it is extremely hard and I am unable to scratch it with a stainless knife,it resembles a large tooth to me,but I am new to this and it is possible it is just a rock, any input is welcome as I am here to learn, thanking everyone in advance. gmanp135

Hello guys! Happy new year to everyone! Saw this interesting fossil listed as a rare fossil bird feather from Parachute Creek, Colorado. Here are my questions 1. Is it really a fossil feather? ( I was thinking more like some kind of seed but It does look a lot like a feather) 2. If it is, is it really a bird feather? What else could it be? Really Appreciate the help, here are the only pics I have. Cheers!

Hello, I am new to the forum and know little to nothing about fossils so forgive me if my guesses are off base. I found this fossil (?) in the river bed of the Frio River in the Texas Hill Country (Real County) north west of San Antonio. It is approximately 2 inches long. Thanks to this forum and googling, I'm wondering if this is either rugose coral or heliophyllum coral? Thanks for any info.
